August Premier's Album Release Date
It's weird, I have an actual piece of news to write about this time around.

The Icarus Account
Just got another song in for the new cover project...The Icarus Account is simply a kick ass song from the last compilation. This next project is going to be the most impressive group of talent yet...

Punchline
In honor of Punchline's latest EP, which reached an unprecedented level of success on the iTunes daily charts by reaching the number one music spot despite the fact that they're represented by they're own indie label and are a DIY artist.

Anyways, I figure I would give them a bit of love by streaming their cover of Alkaline Trio's 'Madam Me' which appears on the compilation titled A Tribute to Alkaline Trio. Hopefully their EP's success is a sign of the times, and turns out to be a glimpse at the comeback potential that this genre has. I encourage anyone who wants to support the scene and who loves quality music to give Punchline's new EP a spin. You can find So Nice To Meet You right here.

Best Cover Band In Sweden
"Detta är helt enkelt Sveriges bästa tolkningsband, det finns inget band i Sverige som kan göra om låtar till en annan genre och ÄNDÅ få det att låta så bra, proffsigare än så här blir det verkligen inte!" - Rocknytt.net

If you're like me and don't understand any of what I posted above, I'll do you a favor and translate the reviewers delightful description of the Future Idiots.

"This is without any doubt Sweden's best cover band, there's no band in Sweden who can remake songs in a different genre and STILL make it sound so good,
it's not gonna get more professional than this!".

I Love Katy Perry
Here's an unmastered, rough mix of a new Future Idiots song tentatively known as "I Love Katy Perry". You can practically taste the Blink-182-like glory that's going to appear on their upcoming full length, self-titled album.

Battles
The first taste of August Premiers return to Pop Punk prominence is beginning at Soundoff where you can hear a clip of their track 'Battles' which is dominating the battle board (you'll understand if you check out the site).

New Year, New Album
This post is going to be short and sweet. The Future Idiots are currently putting the finishing touches on a new full length self-titled album. This album will mark their third original full length record. Love and Murder and Lust being the other two.

I'll have some unreleased, rough mixes of a few new songs to post over the course of the next few days.

Classic Christmas
Some people say Christmas is about friends and family. Others say it's about Jesus. I say it's about the NBA kicking off their regular season and gaining three to four pounds through a sheer lack of will power and an overwhelming over-consumption of anise candy and home baked chocolate chip cookies.

That being said, Christmas and New Years are combining to make me incredibly unproductive, so I'm going to lazily offer up one of our more underappreciated international artists named Kyoto Drive. Now it's time to get back to watching in awe as Kevin Durant leads the league in scoring for a third consecutive year, while I get in on a second helping of left-over honey glazed ham.

Best Damn Deal of the Season
A lot of stores offer terrific deals this time a year but I'll give you the best damn deal of the holiday season right here:

August Premier, The Composure, Squid the Whale and Gunner playing at the Brauerhouse
Lombard Tuesday, January 17th for seven bucks. Now that's a deal.

Here's The Composure's cover of Sleepyhead just so you can get a feel for the ensuing awesomeness.

December 17th, 2011
You're Giving Me Your Virginity for Christmas
A couple of dudes by the name of Mark and Dave wrote a song titled "You're Giving Me Your Virginity for Christmas" with the intention of trying to get the Future Idiots to record the track. Being the awesome guys that FI are, they felt honored that somebody wrote a song for them and immediately took up the challenge to record. The result is a kick ass Christmas themed song brimming with humor and satire.

December 15th, 2011
Koji and Bright and Early
Did you feel that quake? It was the result of the combined talent of Koji and Bright and Early colliding in a mini-acoustic tour. You can feel the power for yourself on the 12, 13, 14 and 15th of January when the two artists join up with A Loss For Words to dominate the world acoustically.

If you want significantly less hyperbole with your info, and if you want to stream an awesome track or two visit B&E's facebook for the rest of the details.

Maybe I'll Catch Fire
Not to inundate the last week or so with August Premier news, but did I mention they have a ten track album coming soon? The bad boy was engineered by Matt Allison. Who just conveniently happens to be the mastermind behind a ton of different records. Most notably (in my opinion) Alkaline Trio's first couple of albums. More specifically Goddamnit, Maybe I'll Catch Fire and From Here To Infirmary. Doesn't get much better than that. News about the release should be on the horizon.

December 11th, 2011
TOAM
I'm going a little old school by streaming The Ocean As Mistress. They're one of our classic artists that we worked with a number of years ago that's looking to make a comeback of sorts and release some new material in 2012.

Anyways, 'Virga' is one of the best tracks that I've ever had the pleasure of releasing, so I thought I'd bring it back from obscurity.

December 8th, 2011
Retro Feel
August Premier is working on recreating a pic for their new album's cover art. The layout should be stylized in a similar manner to this: Sample.

Gotta' love the classic feel.

Balloons...Everything's Okay
I've been spinning August Premier's final album mix for their upcoming record, and I have to say this new creation is simply a reminder of why I originally loved the band back in 2002.

In my opinion the new album is going to be a more mature version of "Balloons...Everything's Okay". And that's some high praise considering Balloons is one of my top five favorite EPs of all time.

Selling Yourself Short
I'm streaming 'Selling Yourself Short' by Bright and Early for no other reason than I'm listening to it right now, and enjoying the hell out of it.

Sputnik Supports My Love
Think my love for Bright and Early is somewhat skewed because of a personal relationship? Think that all the gushing I've done about "Getting Through It" is all lip-service? Well you're right, I'm incredibly biased.

But than again I never expected anyone to take my word for it.

However, I am happy to announce that I'm not alone in my opinion. Sputnik Music fully supports my band crush on B&E's new EP.

Goes Heavy Metal
There's a nasty stereotype out there suggesting that Pop Punk artists lack talent. That's supposedly why they play similar melodies and try their damndest to assemble whatever they're playing in as uncomplicated a fashion as possible.

In an attempt to debunk this myth, the Future Idiots successfully flex their musical muscle by shredding their way to respect. Just listen to 'Through The Fire and Flames' and tell me FI or Pop Punkers lack talent.

Sure they mold these Metal songs into poppier renditions of themselves. Partially because Pop Punk is the sound the guys love, but primarily the Pop Punk style is due to the fact that a carbon copy cover defeats the purpose of doing a cover in the first place. If a person wanted the original song they would listen to the original.

The bottom line is when it comes to the flashier parts of each track, FI more than demonstrates their skill and talent just as impressively as some of the most renown Metal bands in the business.

FI isn't looking for validation though, they're looking for a reason to rock out to a few songs they enjoy, and maybe garner a little respect while doing it.

Xmas Lovin'
I love Christmas and the season that comes along with it. In fact I enjoy it so much that I'm offering a 50% off coupon for all items in our store, both physical and digital, and I'm also bringing some old Pac Ridge Material out of the wood-works for a limited time.

I figured in addition to Christmas this deal would also be in honor of Black Friday/Cyber Monday. I'm doing my best to cover every aspect of this season with one fell swoop.

Just enter christmaslove in the check out and you'll be good to go.

Now that Thanksgiving's over it's officially time to scope out a Christmas tree. In my opinion the smell of Pine in the house officially kicks off the season and gets me all nostalgic and in the spirit.

B&E Exposed
In their infinite kindness and awesomeness the podcast Radio Exposed took the time to interview Bright and Early about their EP and their Alkaline trio tribute contribution.

The interview took place on 10/30 and goes from minute 53 to the hour and twenty minute mark on the podcast. The recording even finishes up with a streaming of "For What It's Worth".

You can download the interview along with the rest of the podcast at their site radioexposed.net.

On a side note, I definitely recommend subscribing to their podcast. They're super nice guys who have a great taste in music and are really quite random and unpredictable in a good way.

Goes Heavy Metal
I mentioned a few days ago that one of our favorite international artists was getting ready to have a metal, cover album drop on November 29th.

Well it's not November 29th, but it is time for you to be able to stream the entire album for free. And by that I mean Goes Heavy Metal by the Future Idiots is actually going to be available for full stream at our bandcamp page starting today. Which coincidentally means the album is for sale/download a week before the actual release date exclusively on our page.

If you want a song recommendation, I have to say my personal favorites off of the FI EP are "Through The Fire and Flames" and "Afterlife". Both are absolute gems.

Best Tribute Album
This review of the Alkaline Trio Tribute album is a bit of a late arrival, but the fact that someone out there cared enough to do a review of a four month old compilation makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. The cherry on top comes in the form of them naming the Alk3 tribucomp the best tribute of the year. Making them the best reviewer of the year in my book. I'm also streaming My Arcadia's cover of 'Maybe I'll Catch Fire' just for kicks, and because it's awesome.

Pop Punk Battle Cry
A couple of reviews have just recently cropped up for Bright and Early's EP. Going Metal
The Swedish Pop Punkers known as the Future Idiots have another release in the works. This time around they're doing their best to venture away from their usual Pop Punk sound by injecting a dose of metal into their musical repetoire. So if you like the Future Idiots, Pop Punk, Metal, Shredding or a combination of all four of these particular traits then you should keep an eye out for Goes Heavy Metal. The EP is a four track mini-cover EP of various metal artists.

The album will be dropping on November 29th, but you can stream FI's cover of Dragonforce's song 'Through the Fire and Flames' right here if you're interested.

Free B&E Song
It's raining here in Southern California. Which means Winter is probably settling in everywhere else too, if it hasn't already that is. So as a way to smile in the face of the gloomiest weather, I have a free Bright and Early song to offer up for free download.

'For What It's Worth' is the third track off of B&E's latest EP and is available right here for your downloading pleasure.

Hopefully a little Pop Punk will lift the heart and warm spirits for the upcoming nastiness that's bound to ensue.

The Film Vault
The Future Idiots recently had several of their songs appear on a popular podcast that goes by the name of The Film Vault. A show where hosts Bryan and Anderson recommend movies while being entertaining and only mildly racist.

So if you're a fan of movies or the Future Idiots check out the 'Top 5 Biopics' episode and you'll get to hear an unreleased tune of there's titled "Through the Fire and Flames" as well as a plethora of witty movie banter. Win-win. And I would be remiss not to tie in Halloween to this post in some fashion, so if you're in the mood for something befitting of October 31st, you should check out their scary movies themed episode. That episode doesn't have FI, so it obviously wouldn't be quite as good, but Bryan and Anderson still kick ass anyway.

You can find the episode on iTunes, at The Film Vault Blog or at andersonandbryan.com.

Eight Songs Free
We've been on a bit of a roll lately with some quality music. Between the Alkaline Trio Tribute, The Scene and now Bright and Early's EP we seem to be doing nothing but getting bigger and better.

Those musical highlights inevidably bring me to the next few endeavors we're undertaking. First up is going to be a full length with former Fueled by Ramen artist August Premier. They're a personal favorite of mine from before Pac Ridge ever existed, so getting to work with them has been nothing short of a surreal experience. Secondly, we've got former Drive Thru artist Jesse Ponnock recording an EP with the amazingly talented Ace Enders.

Both records are going to drop some time this Winter. And as a way of prepping people for the upcoming awesomeness. I want to release an eight track compilation of some of our best work. It's available now and it's absolutely free. So check out our bandcamp page and enjoy some quality tunes from a variety of different artists for nothing.

This year is a celebration of our best musical releases to date and it's all thanks to the listeners and fans. It's because of you guys that independent music is making a comeback and that we're able to put out more material with artists like Bright and Early, August Premier, Jesse Ponnock, Punchline, The Wonder Years and all the other quality artists that we've worked with this year.

If anyone is interested, Bright and Early's EP is available for full stream at our bandcamp page.

And if you find that you have an insatiable appetite for all things Bright and Early, you can find an interview at the new music blog Play Crack The Sky which features B&E's vocalist and guitarist JB. The interview was performed by Sean Reid. A skilled music writer that knows quality independent music. So if you want to stay informed and entertained, I encourage everyone to check out the site.

Bright and Early - Getting Through It
"Immensely listenable...You'd be ill-advised not to give it at least a spin or two." - Punktastic

"...Honest and organic approach...delivering some of the catchiest music we heard from any band..." - Rockfreaks

These are just a few of the kind words that are being used to describe Getting Through It, Bright and Early's new record that's conveniently available today.

You can find the album wherever you enjoy supporting indie music; iTunes, Amazon, Interpunk and of course our bandcamp page are just a few of the locations where you can find a copy of the album, but bandcamp is the only area where you can get a bonus B&E tune. I call it keeping the love in house.

Getting Through It
A few of the songs off of Bright and Early's unreleased EP are now available for instant stream.

'Rule of Three' is streaming at Absolutepunk and 'For What It's Worth' is available at Alter The Press. Both are great sites for finding up-to-date news, exclusives, and if I might say so, terrific Pac Ridge music.

Getting Through It will be available October 18th, and a little earlier for anyone who's nice enough to spend their time reading my posts.

New Band, New Album, New Post
There's no doubt about the fact that Pop Punk is making a comeback. There are simply too many talented Pop Punk bands on the rise to keep the once dying genre in the shadows any longer. With New Found Glory, Allister, Rufio, Punchline and I Am The Avalanche all making headlines again, and artists like Man Overboard, Transit, Fireworks and The Wonder Years all beginning to grab the spotlight. There's simply no denying the obvious and inevitable fact that we're in the midst of a Pop Punk renaissance.

Fresh off their tour with Punchline, Bright and Early slides into that second category of Pop Punk bands. And by that I mean they're one of the handful of artists that have been critical in resuscitating the once dying genre and bringing the Pop Punk style and flavor back from the edge of extinction. And not only is the genre beginning to peak again, it's clearly better then it's ever been. You can hear the proof on their new record titled 'Getting through It'. There's passionate vocals and clever song writing that's reminiscent of Gatsby's American Dream in 'Stick By Me', then there's the undeniably catchy track 'Rule of Three' that'll bring back fond memories of the glory days of the scene while just beginning to scratch the surface of what the genre could actually achieve in this second wave of popularity.

Over-produced, hackneyed impersonations of quality artists is what nearly destroyed Pop Punk.

Bright and Early is just one of the handful of artists that's going to do their damndest to save it.

Stream The Scene In Its Entirety
I've been yammering on about The Scene and Alkaline Trio tribute compilations for what seems like months now, so I figured I should get straight to some substance and let people know that the combined 59 tracks are available for instant stream on our bandcamp page.

So if you've heard me hype these two projects, but have never gotten a chance to see what I've been talking about, now is a better time than any.

Play Crack The Sky
What's up with the slew of comps I'm releasing lately? What artists do I think have the ability to excel in the music industry? What do I have planned for the next six months? Answers to all these questions and a bunch of other more interesting ones are available in an interview I did with music blog, Play Crack The Sky. I get fairly personal, and of course, never lose my long-winded narcissism throughout the entire process, so check out the interview if you're interested.

Also if you're new to Play Crack The Sky, which you are because they're new, they're a site in the vein of Absolutepunk or Alter The Press. Meaning that you can discover all the musical news, exclusive downloads and features your heart desires. Even more importantly, Sean Reid, the guy who posted the interview and runs the site, actually cares about independent music. Making him, in my opinion, one of the saviors of this industry, because people who care about quality and talent over status is what will keep this scene we all love afloat. So seriously if you want to be kept up-to-date and entertained at the same time, you really should bookmark this site.

The World Concave
I already posted the video for The World Concave's contribution to The Scene, so I thought it would only make sense to put the song itself up for grabs. That being said, you can temporarily download 'Loom' for free right here, or you can stream the track and the entire compilation the track is on to your hearts content right here.

September 27th, 2011
The Scene - Available Now
The Scene can now be found at whatever site you use to satisfy your music indulgences; iTunes, Amazon, Interpunk or right here with us.

There are two specific reasons why I took the time to put together The Scene compilation. The primary factor being that there has been a void in quality compilations since Blink-182's Atticus series went on hiatus. Atticus was a near failsafe way of identifying incredibly talented new artists without having to wade through the countless garage bands that exist today. And I'm not demonizing garage bands or indie artists, I'm simply saying there's only so many hours in the day and unfortunately they can't all be spent discovering new artists. Even if I do wish that was the case.

The second reason for the creation of this album stems from my dislike of fighting controlling labels, egotistical managers and overentitled artists who care more about the politics involved with the music industry than in the fans who gave them their opportunity. These labels, managers and bands don't realize they're destroying the scene that their career is built upon. Instead this compilation is composed of generous managers, labels who want to cooperate with one another for the mutual benefit of everyone involved and artists who just want to perform their art for a living in front of passionate fans who actually care about their music. These artists, labels and managers simply want to be heard and realize that working together is beneficial for everyone involved and this compilation is definitely a step in that very direction.

Three Free Downloads
Purevolume.com has always been a terrific destination for discovering up-and-coming artists. That's why I'm honored to announce that they're featuring The Scene compilation on their homepage this weekend.

They even included a few quotes from a tangent I went on regarding why I put together this project. So if you want to download three free tracks off of the album and read a little bit of my rant just head on over to their site.

The World Concave
There are a handful of people that I find I have something in common with. One of those individuals just so happens to be The World Concave's Craig Cirinelli. The guy has an unmatched enthusiasm for creating beautiful art, writing and performing brilliantly crafted music and has an unequaled appetite for consuming musical lore.

For example, Craig created The Scene artwork, the Alkaline Trio tribute artwork, contributed a song to our compilation and even recorded a video for their contribution to The Scene.

Craig along with bandmates Dan, Erik, Alf and Mark all put together the dark, ominous tune titled 'Loom', which can be heard in The World Concave's first official video that you can find right below this long-winded post. The video will be cropping up on Blanktv.com, Engineer Records and like I've said a couple of times already, The Scene compilation, as well as numerous other places of course.

Check it out, and better yet, check The World Concave out. They're seriously talented and deserve a lot more recognition for their hard work and passion.

Joe Wilson
Joe Wilson is one of the four artists that we were lucky enough to get to contribute on both the Alkaline Trio Tribute and The Scene compilation. So I'm extra excited to present the fact that both Joe Wilson's Alkaline Trio cover of 'Goodbye Forever' and his original song titled 'Severed' can be found, streamed and downloaded at our bandcamp site and at The Scene's Facebook page.

Also if you find yourself really enjoying Joe Wilson's tunes you can find more original work by him at http://www.feelingleftout.net/

Young Hollywood
Another spectacular addition to The Scene compilation was contributed by the artist Young Hollywood who performs their song "Lust At First Sight" on the very first track. The track can be streamed at our bandcamp or the album's FB page.

If you like what you hear you can find more Young Hollywood tunes and follow-up on the band by visiting their FB page.

Move Out West
I want to dive into this new release head on and give you a glimpse at Move Out West's contributions to the album. Their song is the sixth track off of The Scene compilation and is titled 'Sink With You'.

'Sink With You' can be found on our Facebook, Purevolume and at www.pacificridgerecords.com.

You can also stream a couple of other songs by other artists off of The Scene compilation directly from our album page.

If you find yourself wanting to hear more about Move Out West you can find them and their music at their home page.

You Just Need To Know Where To Look
There was such a positive response from the Alkaline Trio Tribute that I thought it would be a terrific idea to do another project with a few of the same artists that I had the pleasure of working with before like The Lion Faced Boy, Still Rings True and My Arcadia, as well as about a dozen new artists.

The project in question was created with the idea that we would gather a terrific group of under-the-radar talent and let them demonstrate their skills with original music. And in my opinion Blink-182's compilation series titled 'Atticus' is the closest comparison to this particular project. 'Atticus' attempted to shed light on new and upcoming artists by including a variety of genres and styles on one record, and in doing so they exceeded almost everones expectations by unveiling original talent like Taking Back Sunday, The Starting Line, Bad Astronaut, Hot Rod Circuit, Finch, Rise Against and dozens of other bands that are thought of as the greatest of their era. Since Atticus has been slow to keep up their work, I thought Pacific Ridge Records would take a stab at selecting a few artists that have unparalleled ability, and who I think with a little dedication and hard work are destined to achieve great things.

The compilation is titled 'The Scene' and will be released on September 27th. You can check out the artwork, stream three songs and view the track listing right here.

I Have Opinions Too
The Material, Floral Terrace and My Arcadia recently expressed their opinions on what their favorite Alkaline Trio songs are, so I went ahead and followed suit. Albeit in a slightly more long-winded approach as I'm prone to do...you can find the mini-interview at Purevolume.com.

A TRIBUTE TO ALKALINE TRIO
Before I get into my long winded diatribe about Alkaline Trio I want to say A Tribute to Alkaline Trio is now available and can be streamed in its entirety at our bandcamp page. It can also be found at iTunes and Amazon.

Almost every artist on this compilation comes from a drastically different level in their respective musical careers. Punchline and I Can Make A Mess have just about done it all, while reaching a level of fame and success that has carried on over the years. The Lion faced Boy and My Arcadia are just beginning to catch on and garner some tangible level of fandom. Allister and August Premier are making a comeback, and Straight Outta Junior High and Jonah Matranga are continuing to produce quality music after all these years.

The same differences that are apparent with the broad assortment of artists also exists with the wide variety of genres that are included. There's When We Team Up's post-hardcore take on 'Warbrain', Rattlesnake Gunfight's alternative country breakdown of 'Another Innocent Girl' and Koji's brilliant acoustic take on 'She Took Him To The Lake', and those are just three of the numerous styles that appear on the album.

And while there are so many differences within this compilation. There's one constant, and that's the respect that's being paid to Alkaline Trio that's clearly evident in the wide array of quality individuals and fantastic talent that participated on this project. And with 39 tracks and more than a dozen artists that I had to politely turn down, I can tell you with 100% certainty that the Trio has inspired a countless number of artists and will continue to instill musical passion in future generations.

To end this long winded rant I want to say that ultimately this tribute was made with the idea that maybe one of these 39 songs would turn at least one person, who may not have heard of Alkaline Trio, or maybe hadn't given them a chance, into a true fan of their work. Or with a little luck, maybe a fan of Alkaline Trio will find their next favorite artist hidden among the 39 various acts that contributed their hard work and talents to this project.

Floral Terrace
Floral Terrace is offering up one of the most popular songs on Purevolume right now for free download. The track just so happens to be another magnificent Alkaline Trio cover off our tribucomp, so if you want a free version of 'This Could Be Love' just head on over to PV and secure yourself a free mp3 of an awesome song.

Tomorrow A3T drops so if you visit the album site tomorrow you'll be able to stream all 39 tracks for free.

My Arcadia and The Story Changes
I have more A3T news to love and consume, because I know nobody's tired of that yet.

You can download My Arcadia's cover of 'Maybe I'll Catch Fire' at Purevolume.com for a limited time.

You can also hear The Story Changes rendition of 'San Francisco' while watching the band dominate a bowling alley on their youtube channel and FB page.

Radio Exposed
I want to give a shout out to a podcast by the name of Radio Exposed who interviewed Rattlesnake Gunfight about their contribution on the Alkaline Trio Tribute. They also chatted a bit about Pac Ridge and the compilation as a whole.

Basically what I'm saying is that they have an quality, entertaining show that deserves some attention so check them out.

Plus they talk about Pac Ridge and beer, which is always a surefire way to catapult you into the category of awesomeness.

In Bloom
I'm taking a break from the Alkaline Trio Tribute posting onslaught that I've been non-stop talking about lately to inform you that In Bloom will be playing a show this Saturday with A Loss For Words (Rise Records) & Vanna (Epitaph Records). Also, on September 22nd In Bloom will be opening for The Ataris and Unwritten Law. For the time and location just head on over to their facebook page.

Since I haven't talked about Alkaline Trio for a whole two sentences I should probably mention that In Bloom did a wonderful rendition of the Maybe I'll Catch Fire gem, 'Keep 'Em Coming'. Also, My Arcadia will be streaming their Alk3 track Monday...

If anyone is interested in hearing another track from the Alkaline Trio Tribute you can head on over to Alternative Press where they're featuring Jonah Matranga's version of 'I'm Dying Tomorrow'.

Jonah's rendition is a heartfelt rendition of the tune, so don't expect to be playing air guitar to the song. Expect to be moved emotionally.

Unity: Funeral For A Friend, Moneen, Fightstar
In a little non-Alkaline Trio related news, we have a handful of Pac Ridge artists participating on an Engineer Records benefit compilation that has some fairly prominent talent contributing tracks for the purpose of charity. Pac Ridge will feature artists along side bands like Funeral For A Friend, Fightstar and Moneen. Specifically you'll find Ramona, In Bloom, The Ocean As Mistress and The Cameo In.

Here's a little more info about the charity and the track listing.

It's easy to forget natural disasters when they no longer make the news headlines, but the people left behind continue to struggle sometimes for years after the event. In March 2011, Japan was hit by a life changing series of earthquakes and a devastating tsunami where families and homes were literally torn apart. Engineer Records has not forgotten this awful tragedy and is doing something to raise much needed funds for the homeless children of Japan. With the help of its good friends in the music world, it has brought together a moving charity compilation Unity. The album features The Gaslight Anthem, Funeral For A Friend, Moneen and Fightstar, as well as a host of other fantastic artists, and includes many exclusive tracks that won't have been heard before and which have been produced solely for this compilation – so you wont be able to get them elsewhere. The Unity download will be available as a set of 25 tracks – so for a small donation you get the whole album. Initially, it will be available from Bandcamp and 100% of the proceeds raised from donations will go to the charity. It will also be available from iTunes, Amazon, and Spotify at a later date. Proceeds will go to Save the Children's Japanese Earthquake and Tsunami appeal ( http://www.savethechildren.org.uk/en/japan-earthquake-and-tsunami-appeal.htm )

Unity Tracklist:
01. Freeze The Atlantic - The Alibi
02. Fightstar - Colours Bleed To Red
03. Maycomb - Whatever Happened, Happened
04. The Gaslight Anthem - Our Father's Sons
05. In Bloom - You Sew Me Up
06. Brian Southall & Craig Cirinelli - Losing My Religion
07. The Morning Of - Tell Me I'm Wrong
08. Paige - Young Summer
09. Call Off The Search - Second Best
10. Kyoto Drive - Chapters

11. Funeral For A Friend - Sixteen
12. The Lion And The Wolf - The Lion And The Wolf
13. Mikee J Reds - Don't Know When
14. Moneen - The Day No One Need To Know

Promise of Redemption
Valencia's side project Promise of Redemption does their best to conquer one of Dan Andriano's finest displays of writing by covering the obscure yet popular song 'Take Lots With Alcohol'. The track features Will Noon from Breaking Pangaea and Straylight Run, and has a self-described (by Shane Henderson of PoR/Valencia) Get Up Kids-like breakdown.

You can find PoR's rendition of
'Take Lots With Alcohol' bouncing around on Youtube or right here where the album is located.

Bright and Early
August Premier isn't the only artist that I'll be working with this Summer. I'll be partnering up with the band Bright and Early in a couple weeks in an effort to release some sweet sweet tunes later this Summer.
Right now you can listen to B&E's new single 'Always On My Mind' at the bands Facebook or at Modern Short Stories (Punchline's Record label).

Delivering The Goods
The news about August Premier's recording just got a bit sweeter. They're planning on skipping the EP non-sense that most artists decide to cop out with and instead are going straight for the full length record. That means AP will be delivering 10-12 tracks of delightful audio ecstasy instead of the usual four to six tracks that leave you wanting more.

July 13th, 2011
AP Is Recording With Matt Allison
You know how I said August Premier would be recording through sheer happenstance in August, or more specifically the 15th through the 30th? Well they'll be recording with renowned producer Matt Allison who just so happens to of worked on some of the best releases to derive from Chicago Illinois. One of those dozens of hit records happens to be Alkaline Trio's Maybe I'll Catch Fire. Which coincidently happens to be the album that was almost entirely covered on our Alk3 tribute that's dropping in a month-and-a-half. The happenstance train just keeps forging onward in the Pac Ridge circle of life.

August Premier Wants To Be Liked
Now that you know August Premier is back from the dead, you should give them some cyber lovin' and 'like' their FB page. They're definitely entertaining dudes, so you'll definitely get some sweet deals, free stuff and some awesome tunes by joining the ranks of their loyal fans and posting on their wall.

Say something mean about their drummer Mickey and you'll be rewarded with a little extra something from me personally.

18 Free Songs
If you simply 'Like' the Pac Ridge facebook page you'll get a free 18 track compilation emailed to you pronto. Not a bad deal for a simple click.

Why the great deal with no catch? The sudden burst of generosity may have something to do with the fact that I've had three or four too many cups of coffee, or it could simply be the Independence Day spirit that's coursing through my veins. Either way the compilation comes filled to the brim with everything from unreleased material to old school tracks, and everything in between. After you 'like' the page make sure to message me at contact@pacificridgerecords.com so I know where to send the digital album.

Over My Head
Stream the new Future Idiots track 'Over My Head' at the PRR Facebook or PV page. The song's a classic that you'll instantly recognize once you give it a listen.....and by classic I mean it's six years old. Also known as a lifetime ago in music terms.

If you're wondering where you can get a constant stream of Future Idiots content then you've stumbled across the perfect post.

For all the crude jokes and cheeky humor you can handle check out FI's Facebook. And if you fancy their site make sure to show your humble sherpa some love and throw a 'like' or two Pac Ridge's way.

Firework
Is there a better way to kick off the fourth of July weekend than with FI's timely cover of Firework?

Probably. But there's no denying that the song is incredibly appropriate and the timing couldn't have been better.

Listen to the song on FB or PV.

Hot Links
I have an alternative for those of you who hate PRR and refuse to order or listen to music directly from Pac Ridge. Here are a few links to Grand Theft Audio 2 that will make the album accessible to you without having to tolerate my lame posts and redundant topics. You can stream some of the tracks at these various destinations and the best part of the experience is that they present themselves without the pathetic sense of self-deprecating humor.

Future Idiots Grab The International Pop-Punk Throne
If you enjoy loquacious and verbose descriptions of albums and artists then I have just the article for you:

Fans generally consider Pop Punk to be significantly more simplistic of the genres that are considered 'Scene'. Well, what does that say about the Future Idiots being able to hammer out 16 tracks of the Billboards finest selling artists in a way that makes these platinum hits much more pallettable? I'll tell you what it says. It says there's a Pop Punk throne that needs a leader and FI is more than willing to dawn that crown and accept the responsibility necessary to revitalize a genre with such a poor reputation.

In an attempt to lead this Pop Punk revolution, dirty tactics are absolutely necessary. And showing up these artists with 38 room houses and multi-million dollar recording contracts is the first step in the all out invasion of Pop Punk. So if you want to mosh to FI's rendition of Jason Derulo's pop sensation 'In My Head' or reminisce in the former glory of Deep Blue Something's timeless classic 'Breakfast At Tiffany's' then give GTA2 a listen. If you want to join the battle and bring Pop Punk back from the edge of extinction and pry if from the grip of the whiney kids everywhere. Then arm yourselves with your favorite pop-punker's choice of weapon (Tom Delonge SignatureES-333 Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar) and join the front lines with the Future Idiots.

GTA2 Out Now
GTA2 is finally out, so now you don't have to read my daily posts that are incessantly spamming the hell out of it. Instead you can listen to me streaming the hell out of it. You'll be able to listen to a new song off the album every couple of days on the PRR facebook and purevolume page. I'm starting with my personal favorite, 'In My Head'. Originally performed by Jason Derulo. Truly performed for the first time by FI.

Trolling The Mailbag
In my lazy quest to answer general comments and questions in the most effective way possible I try and present the answer to the questions I'm asked most frequently for any given week.

This weeks ever so popular question just so happens to be about the same topic as last weeks Q&A session. The Alkaline Trio tribucomp, so here it is:

"Why did you choose to have those Alkaline Trio songs covered?"

First off, I didn't choose these particular tracks to be covered. The bands that are taking part in the compilation did. I made a list of all the tracks from Goddammit!, Maybe I'll Catch Fire, the self titled album, From Here To Infirmary, Good Mourning, Remains and a few key tracks from some of the newer albums just to round out the list. That means we're talking about well over 100 songs for the participating artists to choose from. It was obvious from the beginning that the sheer number of quality tracks meant that there was no way that every popular song was going to get covered. And some of the tracks that were chosen to be covered ended up falling through due to unfortunate circumstances that cropped up for a select number of artists that forced them to abandon their participation on the project. These unforeseen drop offs led to gems like Crawl, Blue In The Face and Mr. Chainsaw being chosen and sadly never covered due to the problems faced by the artists that chose them.

Now you know the tangible reason for the lack of certain cover songs appearing on the comp. Now here's the psychological/philosophical reasons. I understand that it's human nature to say what isn't a part of a project as opposed to what is. For example, if Stupid Kid and Nose Over Tail weren't included on the project people would chastise me for those omissions. But since those tracks made the cut, people don't acknowledge the success but rather focus on the shortcomings. I'm not saying that this is a negative approach for people to take, just an unfortunate part of our psyche, and given my love for Alkaline Trio and my desire to see every song possible covered, I completely understand.

August Premier
If you've seen the track listing for the Alkaline Trio Tribute Compilation you'll notice that a familiar yet almost forgotten name appears on the second disc. If you're well acquainted with some of the Fueled By Ramen artists from earlier this decade you'll remember the name August Premier. If you're hardcore like myself you'll remember them on the kickass but unfortunately now defunct label LLR records.I guess what I'm basically trying to say is that AP is back and joining Pac Ridge to release their first material since Fireworks and Alcohol was released back in 2003.

Trolling The Mailbag
In recent weeks I've received a number of angry emails, which is something I've come to expect when I release a tribute album. After all, people are passionate about their musical idols, so I understand the anger to some extent, but it seems this time around people are being a bit more ridiculous than usual. Also I've been getting a lot of questions about certain semi-interesting events that are occurring that I feel need to be addressed. So I figure I'll start answering questions in a lazier more wide-spread fashion. And by that I mean as regular posts.

Question: Why would you release a tribute to Alkaline Trio with these bands? I don't even know who they are.

Answer: First off, if you haven't heard of I Can Make A Mess, Allister, Punchline, The Wonder Years, Into It. Over It. or Jonah Matranga then you don't like music. Jonah's one of the most influential singer/songwriters of the last decade. Educate yourself a little and Wikipedia the man. I Can Make A Mess is comprised of Ace Enders, a man who is widely revered and is thought of as one of the best artists, engineers and individuals this industry has had to offer in years. Allister, Punchline and The Wonder Years are wildly popular artists who ooze talent and have paved the way for numerous other bands that have sprung to life recently. And Into It. Over It., Koji, The Material, My Arcadia and every other artist on this compilation are tremendously talented, up-and-coming artists that are destined for great things if they stick with their craft. In fact, most of these bands have accomplished more in their short existence than most artists will achieve in a career. I'm not saying they're all going to be the next All Time Low or Four Year Strong. Hell I'm not even saying you're going to like every song on the record. I'm just saying give these artists a chance before you crucify them. Because finding new quality artists is one of the most rewarding moments in life in my opinion. Yet people today seem disinterested in discovering new bands. Instead people seem to take pleasure in posting in message boards with such clever and insightful quips as "Who?" and "Never heard of them". Sure there's usually a plethora of intelligent people berating those posters for being morons. But there's definitely not an adequate number of posters bashing the ignorant masses, that's for sure.

In the end a persons opinion of music should be based on the sound of the artist rather than name recognition. I mean why harbor so much resentment towards an artist you willingly admit that you've never even listened to. Let me give you an example of why that naive, blind approach to judging and mindless criticism is unfounded. I got the same "Who" response to the original posting of All Time Low and Four Year Strong's Blink tribute tracks. We see how that turned out. Sure there were plenty of artists on the Blink compilation that didn't work out, but those few gems that were on there were just glimpses in to the beginning of some of the most prominent scene oriented artists of the last ten years. I'm not saying every song on here is going to blow your mind, or that every band on here will turn into the next big thing, but at least give an artist a chance before discarding them as rubbish. Because whether you like to admit it or not, there are real people behind every song you listen to. These people spend hours, days, months and years of their life practicing their instruments and working for little to nothing just to try and bring you a little satisfaction in the form of music.

What I'm saying is you never truly know when you're going to discover you're next favorite band, but you're definitely not going to find them by being close minded and cruel.

Alk3 Track Listing Pt.2
As I mentioned in my last post in which I mentioned the track listing. That was only the first disc of the tribute. That's right, this bad boys going to be two discs long, and I'm not talking about one disc and a handful of remaining tracks. I'm talking about two 19+ track discs. Enough rambling and build up though. Here's the second disc of the tribute:

1.Barely Blind - Nose Over Tail
2.The Catastrophe - Tuck Me In
3.Floral Terrace - This Could Be Love
4.August Premier - Sun Dials
5.Jesse Ponnock - All On Black
6.United Federation of Planets - Exploding Boy
7.Rattlesnake Gunfight - Another Innocent Girl
8.Promise of Redemption - Take Lots With Alcohol
9.Ramona - You've Got So Far To Go
10.Koji - She Took Him To The Lake
11.The Story Changes - San Francisco
12.The Icarus Account - '97
13.Still Rings True - My Friend Peter
14.The Composure - Sleepyhead

16.Future Idiots - Sadie
17.In Bloom - Keem 'Em Coming
18.Straight Outta' Junior High - Fuck You Aurora
19.Washington Square Park - Cop

Obviously there's a good chance that some of these artists are unfamiliar to you. That's why I started the Kickstarter project a couple months back. I wanted talented artists that were relatively underexposed to get a chance at getting on a project with the likes of Jonah Matranga, Ace Enders, Punchline and company. Sure enough the Kickstarter succeeded and new artists were added to the mix. A few more artists than I originally anticipated but new artists none-the-less.

Now there's 39 artists from various generations and genres of music, some rookies, some grizzled veterans, some pop punk, some hardcore and some from the tree of Pac Ridge family. That being said, you won't like all the songs unless you slide nicely into the musically diverse side of the tolerant spectrum. But hopefully a few of the tracks give you that warm fuzzy feeling that you felt the first time you heard your favorite Alkaline Trio tune.

A Tribute To Alkaline Trio
I made a vow to myself not to post anything on any Pac Ridge website until I got the last Alkaline Trio cover track in my possession. That day has finally arrived. Well technically I'm still two tracks shy, but the two tracks in question won't be done for a couple of months, so you have some bonus material to look forward to down the road.

Anyways, here are a few nuggets of information that might interest you if you're curious about some of the post-production that's taking place with the compilation. The album is currently being mastered by engineer Dan Coutant of Joshua fame and the artwork is being created by Craig Cirinelli who is currently a member of The World Concave and is an all around artistic badass.

The idea is once Dan finishes putting the final touches on the songs I will slowly post some of the tracks over the course of the next couple of months, so check back soon for some musical awesomeness.

In the mean time here's a little something to check out. The picture is a rough version of the cover art. The goal was to have a subtle mixture of what looks like Alkaline Trio's earlier art mixed with a touch of realistic darkness that fits the usual Alkaline Trio format. All in an attempt to pay our respect while having our own flare. Hope you like it!

It's Friday
Everyone has enjoyed the priceless parodies performed by Weird Al. 'White and Nerdy', 'Amish Paradise', all timeless classics. But what has Al done for us lately? The Future Idiots asked themselves that very same question and decided it was time for them to pick up the slack. So if you enjoy ridiculing Rebecca Black's version of Friday as much as the other 104 million people who have streamed it then you'll enjoy this rather brilliant interpretation.

In Bloom Streams All My Potential
In Bloom has decided to......"decided to" sounds so official. Like the US decided to bomb Libya. It just sounds too intense and contrived to be involved in a music post. It's about time everyone, including myself, referred to the release of music and music related news in a much more jovial manner. After all, music is basically a couple of friends (talented friends in the case of Pac Ridge artists) banging around instruments for two and a half minutes and calling it art. Obviously I'm understating the effort that goes into music, but you get my point. It's definitely not that serious of a matter. The point is, I'm using the term "felt like" instead of "decided to" from now on. And yes that was a massive tangent.

That being said, In Bloom felt like streaming their whole EP over the course of the next week on our Facebook page. Why? Because they felt like it.

Blanktv.com & PRR Podcast 06
It's Monday. So like always that means I have an update for the fans, haters and groupies of Pac Ridge.

This weeks update includes the sixth Pac Ridge podcast and a terrific site that has decided to post our videos called Blanktv.com. If you peruse their site you'll find videos from Kyoto Drive, Call Off The Search and Ramona all mixed in with artists as influential as I Can Make A Mess Like Nobody's Business, the Bouncing Souls, Big D & The Kids Table and a number of other equally impressive artists. So if you're a fan, send a few page views Blanktv's way while listening to our podcast. If you're a groupie, feel free to PM me. If you're a hater, feel free to raise your blood pressure for no apparent reason and be expertly ignored by me, and trust me I am an expert at ignoring haters at this stage of the game.

Music Fusion Fridays
I know I'm a few days late since it's not Friday, but we've still managed to land a small spot on Oregon State Universities Music Fusion Station. They're promoting the song "Kids In Tokyo" by Ramona in an effort to help raise funds for Japans relief effort in which 100% of the song sales from that particular track are going to the Red Cross.

On a lighter note they're also playing the video "You Sew Me Up" by our artist In Bloom. So in our eyes, they're both charitable and have good taste. A rare combination of attributes usually only found in the world of Pac Ridge.

In Bloom Reviews
If you haven't listened to any of the tracks off of In Bloom's debut EP All My Potential then you should drop by our media page and check out the video of "You Sew Me Up" or listen to our free download of "You Can't Make Everyone Happy." The price is right and the journey is short and well worth it. If you don't believe me, and I don't expect you too. I'll admit I have a bit more than a slightly skewed opinion on the matter, but instead of listening to me gloating about the album, check out what these reviewers had to say on the matter:

In Bloom has a lot to offer on ‘All My Potential' that manages to take a familiar pop-punk style and mix it with a more edgy power pop/rock sound that takes their music to the next level up. - C.W. Ross

A balls-to-the-wall approach that finds In Bloom giving 110% on every track. -
Tim Karplus

The debut release from In Bloom is badass. Pop punk isn't dead, and In Bloom is making sure of that. -

Japan Relief Track
One positive thing that can be said about the music industry is that in times of trouble there are countless artists, labels, venues and managers that come together in an effort to right some sort of wrong. Whether that unfortunate event/problem comes in the form of a political uprising such as the one that occurred in Egypt or whether that disaster comes in the form of a natural catastrophe such as the earthquake that struck Japan. The music industry is usually there to offer a helping hand.

This time around the problem that's being faced is the aforementioned earthquake.

In an effort to send a little love and relief Japans way, the UK record label Engineer Records is going to be offering an album that includes a few Pac Ridge tracks in which the proceeds will go directly to the Red Cross to assist with the Japanese relief efforts.

Furthermore, Ramona frontman Dave Fritz and myself decided to offer up the track 'Kids In Tokyo' for charity. Meaning 100% of the sales of the song 'Kids In Tokyo' by Ramona will go directly to the Red Cross. The reason that this particular track has been selected for charity by Ramona is that the drums on the song were actually performed by vocalist Dave Fritz's long-time friend Mah. A resident of Japan and a former tour partner that helped Dave establish numerous friendships and a close connection with the country of Japan.

To donate to the cause, just purchase the track "Kids In Tokyo" right here. Like I said before 100% of the song sales go directly to the Red Cross. Also, I'll be posting about the charity compilation that's coming out on Engineer Records when the details come in.

A Peek Behind The Curtains
First off I want to begin this post by thanking each and every person who decided to donate to our Kickstarter. The reason for thanking everyone isn't because we made our financial goals or were successfully funded. It's because all the individuals who decided to contribute proved to me that there are enough good people out there that actually support projects like this and the artistic community in general that the music industry will not only survive in the coming years, but will thrive. Aside from dominant corporations, the general public are the people that make projects like this a reality. And the fact that we received an overwhelmingly positive reaction lets me know that there are still people out there who want to see independent artists to succeed and produce a quality independent product. It also means that what I'm doing here at Pac Ridge has some purpose. People want to hear the material that Pac Ridge and their artists create and produce. So once again, thanks to all of you who decided to contribute your hard earned money to see more than a half dozen independent artists added to the compilation. It means that despite all the negativity surrounding the music industry that music community is still alive and thriving and that there are still people who care about new talent. This successful Kickstarter is a microcosm of that truth.

Now for the details. Thanks to your pledges, we've added Jesse Ponnock (Drive Thru), And Then There Were None (Tooth & Nail), Foundations (ex-Anne Beretta), Wolves, Lion Faced Boy and possibly Fake Problems (Side One Dummy) and Rattlesnakeguns to the compilations roster.

Some of these artists are established and some of them are relatively new to the music world. But regardless of their current status in the music business I have no doubt that every one of these artists will do a terrific job in paying their respect to such an influential artist as Alkaline Trio. And hopefully when you hear these additional tracks you'll have a similar sentiment. An even more important element to this project is that I hope you feel as if you were a part of the process of making this record, because there is no doubt that all of you played an integral part in the production of this album and these extra artists.

PRR Podcast 05
You would think after five episodes I would start to improve at this whole podcasting nonsense. Well think again, because we're five episodes in and I still stutter about the latest artist that I would recommend listening to. I still ramble incoherently about the successful funding of our kickstarter. And I still mispronounce the names of those kind individuals who have helped add songs to the compilation. Overall this is definitely Pac Ridge glory at its best.

It's that time again. I've managed to drone my way through a fourth edition of the PRR podcast. If you haven't listened to previous editions of the episodes. You'll definitely grow fond of me and my mindless blather, especially if you enjoy a person who has spent literally zero time behind a microphone. I cover such important and edgy issues as "what I'm listening to" and "what new artists have been added to the Alkaline Trio compilation". In addition to those cutting edge issues, this podcast also contains a new track from In Bloom's recently released album "All My Potential" which can be found all over the damn place. The guys from In Bloom are also laying out plans to tour the entire West Coast. So keep your eye lids peeled and ears tuned in to all the glory that is Pac Ridge, and all the updates that will ensue.

All My Potential & New Video
In Bloom's debut EP All My Potential is now officially available. You'll get fork-lift load of free schwag if you order directly from me, but if you're an iTunes-oholic or an Amazon addict like so many of you are. We've got your fix for that too.

In equally awesome news, we have the finished video for In Bloom's second track 'You Sew Me Up'. It's a laid back, yet professional take on a catchy song. Plus there's some eye candy in the video that deserves to be ogled in the least perverse way possible. So if you have three minutes and 47 seconds to kill, you know what to do.

All My Potential & PRR Podcast 03
It's another exciting day in the neighborhood. There's a new album available for pre-release, instant early purchase or simply for your free streaming pleasure. The album is a debut EP by a Portland four piece Pop-Rock group by the name of In Bloom. I won't bore all six of you who've read this far with the details but if you're even remotely curious, the EP has six tracks that are reminiscent of the vocal stylings of Keepsake and the aggressive raw guitar of A Day At The Fair. All orders come with a s*** load of schwag and materialistic awesomeness. Also if you happen to be in, and/or around, the Portland area check out one of In Bloom's shows, there all free or cost less than the federal minimum wage, so it's a deal.

Lastly I posted the third installment of the PRR podcast today. This third edition of the PRR podcast contains the typical short rants, shameless self-promotion and mindless inarticulate stuttering as always. As for the substance I always claim to have, today it comes in the form of a debut Alkaline Trio cover, In Bloom news, a new release and the artist Man Overboard. You can watch the "video" here or download the audio for your ipod listening pleasure here.

Actual Shows
It's been around two years since we've actually had an artist performing within the borders of the good ol' US-of-A. Luckily February 24th is the day the dry streak ends, and hopefully it'll be the first of many shows to come.

The four shows that are officially booked are being performed by none other than our latest US artist In Bloom. The information for the shows can be seen on our events page, or right here. The four night festivity filled bonanza will be in support of the bands debut EP All My Potential which drops on the 22nd.

PRR Podcast 02, In Bloom, et al.
If you were wondering why the internet was at a virtual stand still for the last twenty four hours, then wonder no more. I posted the infamous second PRR podcast. All seven people who watched the last episode nearly brought our ISP to its knees, so don't all enjoy it at once. Seriously though, the podcast is a rather enjoyable experience in an I like to hear myself talk kind of way, so check it out.

However, my rich vocal stylings aren't the only event worth checking out this week. For instance, In Bloom is getting ready to start playing shows in support of their upcoming album "All My Potential", which gloriously drops on February 22nd. Consult the links below to be directed to your appropriate destination.

In Bloom's Album All My Potential

February 02, 2011
In Bloom
We're streaming our newest artists' newest song over at our Purevolume page. More specifically, we're posting the third track off of In Bloom's debut EP, which is six tracks long and titled All My Potential. 'Don't Let Me Go' is this tracks title, and just so happens to be the first song off of the Portland acts album that's being shared with the masses (all half-dozen of you). You can also check out an interview I had with the lead singer Tim Reed about a month ago. The man is a very insightful individual who knows how to belt out catchy tunes and hustle me at basketball. A sweet combination with the exception of the hustling, but that's just me whining about my eventual bball beat down. Oh, there's a few updates over at the Alkaline Trio site too. Both a Tooth and Nail and SideOneDummy artist have decided to join the Alk3 tribucomp party.

Alkaline Trio and Four Year Strong
I have two rather important topics to cover.

The first being the release of Call Off The Search's debut album "What Doesn't Kill Us". The band and the EP can be summed up as such; They sound like the UK equivalent of Four Year Strong. They're fast, they're aggressive, they're pop-punk gone hardcore with an English accent. Does FYS have an English accent? Didn't think so. Bonus!

The second item up for bid is our Kickstarter campaign for our Alkaline Trio tribute album. The album is officially finished and includes artists such as Ace Enders, This Time Next Year, The Wonder Years, Into It. Over It. and Allister. But what I'm really hoping to accomplish is to get about 20+ professional independent artists to contribute a track. So for more info about adding additional cover tracks to the Alkaline Trio tribute album just check out the link below.

PRR Vlogcast 01
It's not quite a podcast, and it's not quite a vlog. In reality it probably falls somewhere in between. If I were to attempt to define it, I would suggest calling it a vlogcast. Either way, this nightmare of a product contains new songs, short rants and tons of shameless self-promotion. It does have a little substance though.

The substance in this particular episode comes in the form of Alkaline Trio, Allister, In Bloom and two new releases in addition to an unreleased track off of an unnamed upcoming album. You can watch the "video" here or download the audio for your ipod listening pleasure here.

Become A Fan On Facebook And Get A Free Song or Album Of Your Choice
The headline kind of says it all. If you go to our Facebook page and become a fan of PRR you'll get a free song or album of your choice. Obviously you'll need to post on the Pac Ridge wall about what song or album you'd like, and I'll hit you back up with your recommendation asap. Obviously the nicer and more clever you are the more free songs you'll receive, and along those same lines, the more demeaning you are the quicker you're post will be discarded due to my insecurities and sensitivity. So it's simple, stroke my ego and be graciously rewarded, or simply post what song(s) you'd like and you'll be moderately showered with goodies. Easier than torrents if you ask me.

Why the sudden desire to plug the Pac Ridge Facebook? Because a certain gentleman who does a good number of art layouts for some of our bands made the obvious point that this non-sense known as Facebook is popular. Who knew? (If you can't find our FB page with the above mentioned link. Just search Pacific Ridge Records in the FB search bar and you'll be golden)

What Doesn't Kill Us...
Alterthepress.com has decided to feature Call Off The Search and their new album, What Doesn't Kill Us. The article contains the bands unreleased EP, which they just-so-happen to be streaming, as well as an interview about their debut release mixed in with some randomness.

The feature also coincides with what the band and myself decided to be the availability of the album. So if you want to stream the album or buy an exclusively premature version of it than head on over to our store.

Call Off The Search Interview
Instead of a song of the week this week, I'm bringing you what I consider to be the interview of the month. Maybe even the year. In fact, this interview is scientifically proven in multiple double blind studies to be without a doubt, the definitive Call Off The Search interview. Don't take my word for it. Check it out for yourself; COTS INTERVIEW. Seriously don't take my word for it though. Seriously.

New Year
With the new year comes the usual cliche of promises of a new way of life and attitude. Well I can be as cliche as the next person, so right here and right now, I'm promising that Pac Ridge and the artists we represent will be better than ever. We'll put out more music, stream more albums, ramble on about more non-sense and kick way more ass then ever before. Now for something completely unrelated, Smartpunk, what used to be the greatest online music vendor of all time, has reopened their doors to everyone, including us. Exciting! Sarcasm aside, there's tons of merch, I don't blame you if you don't want it, but it has a bunch of stuff our store doesn't. So if you want some exclusive stuff like keychains, posters, mirrors, T's, buttons, etc. Then I'd head on over to this little link right here: Smartpunk Store.

In all seriousness, Happy New Year, hopefully 2011 will be the best year of everyones life.

Alternative Addiction
If you're wondering what I mean by Alternative Addiction, then wonder no more, because AA is a terrific music e-zine that's loaded with everything from big-name talent to unknown up-and-comers. More specifically it's loaded with Call Off The Search. So click on the banner below to vote for COTS and be the first witness their inevidable domination over the site! [update: They'll be up on the site within the next day or two so don't vote for these talented, but unfortunately non-Pac Ridge, schlubs]

Xmas Lovin'
I got everything a person can possibly want for Christmas; a grocery store gift card for those toiletries and food not named Top Ramen. Starbucks gift cards for those long nights toiling away at the office (playing DJ Hero 2) and delivering music to the masses. And since I'm in such a glorious mood, not to mention, properly fed and caffeinated, I've made the entire Call Off The Search album available to stream @ our purevolume site. Last but not least, Merry, slightly belated, Christmas!

Tones
Want to annoy your friends with obnoxious ringtones? Then feel free to download the latest Katie Perry, Lady Gaga or Eminem single. Want to enjoy your ringtones because you know that the artist who created them actually cares about their art, and even manages to put in enough effort to write their own material? Then DL these free PRR tones by The Ocean As Mistress. These tones might not have the sophistication and intellect of "California Gurls" or the brilliance and high brow entertainment of Eight Mile, but we try our best to be respectable over here at the Pac Ridge compound.

Song of the Week
Call Off The Search are doing their damndest to to get their EP heard. And that effort starts with the streaming of their third song off of their upcoming EP titled What Doesn't Kill Us.

You can hear the other two COTS tracks by taking a few minutes to scroll down through our previous posts this month.

This weeks song is titled 'Second Best'.

COTS
I have a real treat for you today. if you haven't seen the pictures of Call Off The Searches debut album drifting around, then you obviously don't care. But for those of you that are new to Pac Ridge and actually might care, I can honestly tell you that you can't get much more epic than a giant octopus destroying an ancient vessel in a raging storm that just so happens to be near a rocky outpost that's illuminated by a light house. Then again, you can't get much more epic than some of the delightfully delirious breakdowns COTS offers up on a song by song basis. So what I'm saying is, the art layout tends to match the ferocity of the music. I'll let you be the judge though.

Song of the Week
It's been a busy year for the PRR roster. Between the nine new albums, seven new artists and 80 new tracks there's been hardly enough time to enjoy the fruits of our labor. That being said, I can think of no better way to finish the year than to keep the ball rolling and post the first song off of the first album of 2011.

The song is titled 'Too Many Bad Guys, Not Enough Time' and is performed by our latest international act, Call Off The Search.

December 02, 2010
Ringtones
If you're like me, you're probably bored of hearing Lady Gaga and Eminem ringtones. I mean there are only so many times you can hear Bad Romance blaring through two dollar speakers, making a sound that resembles a blender tearing apart your favorite CD. Solution? I present to you the option of hearing free ringtones blaring through two dollar speakers that more than likely sound equally as terrible, but are coming from me, and are therefore better in every way.

Thanksgiving And A New Album
The nasty weather, family drama and food coma aren't the only things that accompany Thanksgiving. Well usually that sums up T-Day pretty well, but this time around there's the joy of a new album to help manage the less than pleasant side of the holidays. The album in question is a four song EP titled Giving Up On Easy.

If you're interested in a few more details about the album than just click here. Otherwise the Back Pocket Believer's record Giving Up On Easy is more or less an album for fans of Showoff, A Day At The Fair, The Ataris and Blink 182. The album has a Pop-Punk sound to go along with a more mature Rock-like vocal approach. This amalgamation generates a melody that's both upbeat and meaningful, yet somehow stays grounded in the genre of Pop/Rock.

Track List:
Cali (Call Me Home)
Anthem of the Hopeless
4 a.m.
16th and the Boardwalk.

Giving Up On Easy
The Back Pocket Believers album Giving Up On Easy is now available for download a week early due to my uncharacteristically generous, and I might add, philanthropic nature.

Actually most of our albums drop a week early on our lovely little home page as a sort of incentive for those very special individuals that read this website on a consistent basis.

Yup, you heard right, I called you special :)

Want two free ring tones for material that has yet to even be released? Probably not. But too bad, here they are; All three songs are from Call Off The Searches upcoming album "What Doens't Kill Us". (To Download: Right Click + Save Target As + Send or Connect to Phone)

Song of the Week
As always, I'm here to present the lovers and haters with the song of the week. This weeks choice is another Back Pocket Believer song titled Anthem of the Hopeless off of their new record Giving Up On Easy. The track is laced with angst and some serious East coast anger so enjoy what is probably the most aggressive track on the album.

Welcoming Another New Artist
Only a week after announcing the signing of UK Pop-Punkers Call Off The Search, we've decided to welcome another artist to the PRR club. The newest addition to the Pac Ridge family is a four piece Pop-Rock act based out of Portland, Oregon named In Bloom. But having me describe our new artist would be painfully dull, so check out an interview we had with In Bloom's lead singer Timothy Reed. And if that strikes your fancy, or you're just bored and semi-interested in killing ten minutes, check out their sites to listen to a few of their tunes, scope out a handful of their pics and find out why we decided to sign them.

November 12, 2010
COTS and BPB
I've got two small updates for today. Both rather unimportant, but nifty none-the-less.

First off, I've posted some pics of Call Off The Search that range from live shots to nonsensical plaid flap hats. You can check them out at our MS or FB so feel free to check out gems like these...

Secondly, I'm sure I mentioned this before, but the debut album by the Back Pocket Believers is due out Nov. 30 and is titled Giving Up On Easy. The track listing, cover art and other details are available for your viewing pleasure right here.

Call Off The Search
Mikee J. Reds is the guitarist and vocalist of Pacific Ridge Records' Call Off The Search. Now he's putting down his electric guitar and picking up an acoustic for the first time on tour . He is just about to be hitting the road to share his melodic pop punk sounds and we'd like to invite along to be there to see it.

Mikee has already played with bands such as The Xcerts, Canterbury, Furthest Drive Home, Me Vs Hero, My Awesome Compilation, Mimi Soya, Chaos Days and Lights Go Blue but now he gets to support the highly talented and hugely popular Jonah Matranga (Far, New End Original, Onelinedrawing, Gratitude).

Jonah Matranga is essentially unique. His music sounds somewhere in between Elliott Smith, U2 and Cheap Trick, but it doesn’t really fit into any genre. His voice is instantly recognizable. His style has influenced singers in several genres over the last 15 years. He’s fronted hard rock bands (Far, Gratitude) and made classic indie albums (onelinedrawing, New End Original). He’s made records with budgets ranging from $300 to $300,000.

Jonah has influenced artists from Incubus to My Chemical Romance to Blink-182. He’s recently turned up on hip-hop records from Fort Minor and Lupe Fiasco, as well as being featured on releases by Thursday, Deftones and many more.

Jonah has played as many house shows as he has huge festivals, and he brings the same thing regardless of where he’s playing — accomplished, ambitious songwriting, an abundance of wit and honesty, and an interest in making something new every time. http://jonahmatranga.com/

November - Jonah & Mikee tour dates;
10 London, UK - Windmill Brixton
11 Newcastle, UK - Trillian's
12 Machester - TBA
13 Metz, FR - Private show
14 Trier, DE - Exhaus
15 Duisburg, DE - Steinbruch
16 Newport, UK - Le Pub
17 London, UK - Garage (Upstairs)

You can check out tracks by both of these guys, as well as more info on them and al the shows by visiting this link:

November 07, 2010
Song of the Week
Here's another BPB song by the name of 16th and the Boardwalk. If you're curious the song is the fourth track off the album Giving Up On Easy. If you listen closely you can hear stunning similarities between Matchbook Romance (Epitaph Records) and the Back Pocket Believers. BPB's material is a little more light hearted, but still, the vocals and chords are reminiscent of the glory days of Pop Rock.

Exclusive Pac Ridge Album
Most of the time I try my best to saturate the interwebs with as much non-sense about Pac Ridge artists and albums as possible. For good reasons though, we obviously want as many people as possible to hear our artists hard work and dedication. This time I'm taking a different approach though, I'm only rewarding the fans who decide to follow us directly on our homepage (the site you're reading right now). If you regularly visit this site or simply stumbled upon the glory that is Pac Ridge for the first time. I want you to know we're releasing an album exclusively through pacificridgerecords.com. So don't bother going to myspace, facebook or anywhere else for the details. This babies for the fans.

Non-sense aside, the albums titled Giving Up On Easy and will be released on November 30th. Expect a few of the songs to make an appearance on the site over the course of the next few weeks. Cali (Call Me Home) is the first of many exclusives that are on the horizon. If you want to get a headstart on the info, you can simply visit the Back Pocket Believers artist page and get a preview of their material and a little bit more of an in depth look at their upcoming release.

November 04, 2010
New Pac Ridge Artist
I'm proud to announce the addition of Call Off The Search to the Pac Ridge roster. COTS are a four piece Melodic Hardcore band reminiscent of Four Year Strong and Hit The Lights. The guys from COTS; Ian, Mikee, Joe and Andrew are based in the United Kingdom but are planning to eventually make it state side with a handful of other PRR artists. This is where I'm going to stop though, I wouldn't do the guys from COTS justice by describing them in one post, so check out their artist profile for more in depth info.

Lust Now Available
If you've been patiently waiting for this album to drop, and being the egotistical prick I am I'll naturally assume you have been, than you're in luck. The Future Idiots' 14 Tracks (15 if you order from our digital site) of Swedish Pop-Rock awesomeness is now available everywhere (iTunes, Amazon, PRR digital store, PRR physical store). Even if you have no interest what-so-ever in buying the album, feel free to download a few of their tunes for free right here (Memories, Confessions To A Bartender, Deception and Despair)

October 20, 2010
Song of the Week
Naturally this song is going to be a Future Idiots song considering they have an album being released in around six days. The real change-up here comes in the form of the tracks speed. Instead of posting one of the usually fast-paced Pop-Punk songs that FI usually writes, I've decided to show their variety by posting one of their slower tracks titled Deception and Despair.

October 19, 2010
Pre-order Lust
I've decided to throw the Future Idiots new album up for pre-order exclusively at the Pac Ridge MP3 store. It's the only area Lust will be available until October 26th, and even then it's the only location that'll offer the bonus song "Nothing In Her Way". Even if you don't want to buy the album you can stream it in it's entirety and at the very least enjoy the fruits of FI's Swedish labor.

October 14, 2010
Rant of the Week - Track Listing
Other artists should pay attention to what the Future Idiots are doing. They produce content for their fans on an almost daily basis, while the majority of the music industry seems to be leaning towards a one or two track release system over the course of several months. FI, while not perfect, is releasing 14-20 new tracks every few months. Whether it be in the form of youtube videos, webcam covers, or full blown 16 track LPs they continue to work hard and provide content for the fans that listen to them. Not with the idea of quantity over quality, but with idea that quantity can still be quality. Some call this process over-saturation, I call it responding to what your fans want. Who wouldn't want another few Weezer albums? Considering how awful I found Hurley to be, another quick release would be a welcome site and help fade the painful memories of that particularly unfortunate release. Because with that next release comes the renewed hope that I could find a gem of track that would reignite my past love for the band. And I'm not saying that the more a person records the better it is because it covers up the awfulness that permeates every bands discography at some point or another. I'm saying provide for the fans!!

On a different, but somewhat similar topic, here's the Future Idiots track listing for their newest release, Lust.

1.Keyra Augustina
2.Sympathy Symphony
3.Memories
4.The Basement
5.Self Annihilation
6.Field of Pain
7.Deception and Despair
8.Make Up Your Mind
9.Confessions to a Bartender
10.Out of Fashion
11.State of Mind
12.Lust
13.Insidious Fear
14.Hat's Off

October 11, 2010
Song of the Week
I'm going to change this post up a bit and get straight to business on this lovely sunny Monday afternoon in beautiful So-Cal. Here's a FI song by the name of 'Memories'. At first 'Memories' might sound familiar, but that's just because this track is what you'd get if The Ataris' Blue Skies album decided to procreate with Blink-182's Cheshire Cat album. Making the title of the track appropriate on so many different levels.

October 09, 2010
Third Times A Charm
The Future Idiots are going in the opposite direction of the majority of the music industry. Instead of slowly unveiling singles or releasing valueless EP's they've put out 30 tracks in a little over three months. And if that's not an accomplishment I'll tell you what is. Releasing 46 songs in a little over three months. That's right, FI has put together their third full length album since June of 2010. The album in question is a modest 14 tracks, is titled Lust and is due out October 26th. You can get a little preview by listening to the track that was posted here earlier in the week titled Confessions To A Bartender. Also a sample of the cover art can be seen below.

October 04, 2010
Song of the Week
The Future Idiots have been hittin' the studio hard in an effort to release their second original album in less than a year. And seeing as this is a 'Song of the Week' post you obviously know what I'm getting at, and if you don't, I'll get straight to the point. Here's one of the new and currently unreleased songs that FI's been working on; 'Confessions to a Bartender'.

Song of the Week
Everybody seems to like quality club remixes of indie-rock songs these days. So here's the Pac Ridge equivelant. The song is titled 'In All Dishonesty (Tom Strike Remix)' and is performed by none other than the Pop-Rock quartet In Gratitude. This song, along with the original version, can be found on their recently released album Only In Youth. Which is available at iTunes, Amazon and all your other favorite vendors.

September 28, 2010
Only In Youth
Starting today In Gratitude's debut album Only In Youth is officially available. The album's a six song EP that features a club like remix for a sixth track and a mellow, piano driven sound the rest of the way through. If you don't feel like picking up a copy of the CD just give a few of their songs a listen at our myspace or download a couple of their singles for free at our websites media section.

Artwork, Release Dates And the Fact That You're Special
If you haven't seen or read about In Gratitude's new album Only In Youth than this is the post for you. Starting today the album will be exclusively available for pre-order from our digital store, and only the people who read this post are privy to that piece of knowledge. The album will officially be released everywhere on September 28th. Lastly if you're interested in seeing bit of the artwork for the new album I've included a pic of the cover art in the picture below.

September 20, 2010
In Gratitude's New Video
In Gratitude recently recorded a music video for their single 'Moving On'. If you haven't checked it out, you should. The video provides an excellent compliment to the song itself by hitting the tone of the mellow melody perfectly.

New Artist, New Song, New Album
In what I consider to be exciting news, we've officially added In Gratitude to the Pac Ridge roster. If you're wondering what our latest artist sounds like, music reviewer Alter The Press summed up the Indie Rock quartet best when they described the bands sound as "A delicate piano, blended with a soaring guitar and a strong, punchy chorus." Of course you could always judge the sound for yourself by listening to the first single off their upcoming album titled Only In Youth. The song in question is titled 'Moving On' and has been described by ATP as "One of the best singles so far this year".

GTA Available on iTunes
If you don't like the high quality downloads that we offer at our personal store that come with bonus songs, videos, cover art and artist photos. Then you can always check out the Future Idiots' album Grand Theft Audio at iTunes or Amazon where the quality is lower, the DRM is prevalent and bonus material is non-existent.

27 Free Downloads
A good number of so-called music professionals say giving away music is essentially devaluing the recording that you're offering. I say giving away music is the gateway towards potential fans that just want to hear quality tracks without the hassle of having to initially pay for an unknown commodity. Plus as cliche as it might sound, an artist that's passionate about his or her craft, simply wants their music to be heard. Regardless of whether that's by torrent, iTunes or Myspace page. That's why I'm making all 27 of our Pure Volume tracks available for free download. So help yourself to all of our musical goodness, and if you like any of the songs, be sure to let the artist know. That way they'll continue to work on future material and wont disappear into myspace band oblivion.

Future Idiots - Grand Theft Audio Available Now
Do you like Fergi? Lady Gaga? Owl City? It doesn't really matter because FI makes every single one of their songs superior in every way.

The bottom line is The Future Idiot's new album Grand Theft Audio is a load of ear candy just waiting to be unwrapped and digested slowly and intimately. Or to be truly honest, GTA is an album meant to be rocked out to, air-guitar-style with a punk rock attitude. After all, name another artist that makes Paris Hilton rock? That's right, you can't, because no artist makes Paris Hilton rock....until FI came along that is....

You can find the album available exclusively at our digital store. All GTA album and song downloads come with free digital artwork and a previously unreleased original Future Idiots song titled "Be There."

If you've disappointedly perused our storefront and thought we had exorbitant prices for being an indie label, then you should take another look at our newly improved shopping center, because everything, and I mean everything, is half off. That means EP's are $2.00 and full lengths are $4.00-5.00. Not to mention loads of cheap merch. Not to shabby for hours and hours of straight sexy music.

Song of the Week
Even though there's less then a week before the official release of Grand Theft Audio, we're still going to honor our tradition of having a song of the week. Todays song comes courtesy of our boys in FI. The song is titled "You're Beautiful", which if you recall was originally recorded by James Blunt. Enjoy!

Orginal Recording Artists
It's not quite a track listing, but FI did announce what artists they'll be covering on their upcoming cover album titled Grand Theft Audio. The list is rather broad and has no real rhyme or reason, other than that fact that a decent number of the songs wound up being chosen by fans, which makes the album all the more awesome:

Paris Hilton
Britney Spears
Black Eyed Peas
Blink 182
John Mayer
James Blunt
Lady Gaga
Angels and Airwaves
Amy Macdonald
Owl City
Nine Days
K'naan
Vanessa Carlton

Song of the Week
You probably thought I was going to miss the song of the week like I usually do. Well you're wrong because this week I've got another FI song to spread around the the interwebs. The song is titled "A Thousand Miles" which you may remember originally being recorded by the supremely talented and shall I say smokin' hot singer/songwriter Vanessa Carlton. FI definitely mixes the cover up by adding some synth beats and injecting some feisty pop-rock into the usually slow-paced romantic original version of the song. Future Idiots - A Thousand Miles.

Grand Theft Audio
Last week the Future Idiots posted a cover of Owl City's hit song Fireflies. If you liked it, and in my ever growing state of optimism I'm going to assume you did, you'll really like the rest of bands 15 cover tracks off their new album featuring current and former billboard-topping pop songs. The upcoming 16 track album is titled Grand Theft Audio and will be available on iTunes and every other random download site August 31st.

Cover Art For GTA
Here's the cover art for the upcoming Future Idiots cover album. The song of the week is up next, also we have an interview with FI planned for the near future so check back if you want to hear the story behind the artwork or a few new tracks off of the album.

Fireflies
You probably recognized this week's "Song of the Week" as a cover of Owl City's hit single Fireflies. You may of also noticed that the Future Idiots added a little bit of aggressiveness to their take on the song, leaving out the feminine undertones and adding a dose of mosh-ability that doesn't come through on Adam Young's original work. That being said, if haven't given the song a listen you can still check it out right here, or you can simply wait and pick up the bands 16 track cover album complete with this particular cover on it in a matter of weeks. You're call of course.

Happy Birthday To Me
As the headline suggests, it's my birthday today, and naturally turning another year older comes with the usual increase in responsibility and the addition of more gray hair (or balding in my case). So in response to the unfortunate disease known as aging I'm doing a short and relatively unimportant post so I can get the hell out of here and get schnockered tonight, and by schnockered I mean watch season two of Lost...peace!

Stop, Rewind, Replay!
The song "Stop, Rewind, Replay!" may not be on The Startover's new album Survivor's Guide but it is awesome enough to get some airplay despite coming from a three song demo.

This song and that demo unquestionably assisted in the development and progression of The Startover's sound as it is now, and was a huge step towards the final product that is the Survivor's Guide EP. But the real reason I'm posting this is because this is a pretty freakin' sweet song and video, and in the end that's all that really matters.

Song of the Week
The song of the week should be called the free song that Wayne may or may not post every now-and-again. My true intention is to get a song out there every week, unfortunately time is fleeting and ever so rare these days. And yes that's my lame attempt at justifying my tardiness. Anyways...here's another single off of The Startover's upcoming album titled Survivor's Guide that's due out July 27th. The track is titled "Worst Case Scenario."

The Startover has made us decidedly more fashionable by coming out with a 100% bad ass T. As you can see I posted a pic of it below. Or the last and most likely option is you can admire the artwork that went into the design. Cool stuff.

Song of the Week

We've been seriously slacking with the song of the week, that's why it's exciting to kick the weekly event off again with a new album and an unreleased song from an up-and-coming group of UK rockers called The Startover.

The song is titled "Tactics (We'll Sleep When You're Dead)" off of the upcoming album Survivor's Guide.

Also if you're interested in listening to the song directly on our website we have the Podbean music player on our website now. The players located on the left side of our page and contains about six songs, including each weeks song of the week. Yay!

Pac Ridge Has Signed A New Artist!
As if it wasn't readily apparent by the random new banners on our artist page or the title of this post, The Startover has joined up with Pac Ridge in a conscious effort to dominate the soundwaves and one day the world!

The Startover is comprised of four UK based Pop-Rockers that are anything but your standard Pop-Rock group. Instead the guys utilize three lead singers that combine metal-esque style breakdowns with their Pop-Punk roots to create a Taking Back Sunday/Four Year Strong vibe British style. The Meaning Behind The Music
The ambiguous nature of music and a persons inherent ability to associate themselves with music on a personal level is what makes music so great. That being said, hopefully other people find the true meaning behind the songs of Mornington Crescent Now Open as fascinating as I do.

Another Mouth To Feed, A Way Over, This Heart Is Awake, Hanging On The Words
Perhaps I should write songs about social injustice or about serious international issues? Admittedly I’m not overtly political and for better or worse write about what I know. These four songs are basically about having your heart broken and therefore lyrically speak for themselves.

The One
I’m sure most people have had a “celebrity crush” at some time and I’m no exception. Reality becomes a little blurred though when fate puts you in the same room as the aforementioned “crush” and she reciprocates your affections. Suddenly you’re starring in a bizarre romantic comedy where “an A-list girl meets a B-list boy”

In what is an untypical Hollywood ending however, the boy quickly realizes that he is most likely one of many such “toys” scattered around the globe and the girl doesn’t come banging on his door at night in the pouring rain.

Kids In Tokyo
While a member of the band ‘Junior Achiever’ I had the amazing opportunity of playing a tour in Japan. A few of our shows were as a support act for ‘Shakalabbits’. They were big gigs, over 1000 people each night. The audiences were absolutely brilliant, the best shows I have ever played. It was really refreshing after years of playing to people who are more focused on getting drunk than watching a band perform.  I fell in love with Japan and the people and felt inspired to write a song about them.

The song is about Japan really, not just about the kids in Tokyo but for writing purposes I needed the extra syllable! I’ve become good friends with the members of ‘Shakalabbits’ and I asked their drummer Mah if he might be interested in playing drums on the song. It just so happened that they were heading into the recording studio and he felt inspired by the song and why I wrote it, so he agreed to do it.

The Meaning Behind Mornington Crescent
I believe meaning behind art is crucial. There needs to be purpose in addition to a professional quality to truly capture a persons attention, and more importantly their heart. That purpose doesn't need to be pretentious or overly ambitious it simply needs to be relatable.

Dave Fritz, Ramona's song writer and frontman, has done just that. He's created an album that's enjoyable to the casual fan in addition to maintaining a true representation of himself and his life through his artistic endeavors. So while most artists name their CD out of necessity, Dave named his out of experience. A quality that's often times lost on most Myspace bands these days.

Enough of my ramblings though, right below this Dave explains the meaning behind his uniquely named debut EP "Mornington Crescent Now Open."

“Mornington Crescent” is a tube station (subway station) in London. In 1992 they closed the station for renovations that were only meant to take a year but it ended up being closed for most of the 90’s. I lived in England during that time and if you took a Northern Line train it would pass slowly through that empty station. It was very eerie. Dimly lit, dirty and full of old advertisements that would flap in the wind caused by the passing trains. It felt completely frozen in time. It only reopened in the last few years, restored now to it’s past glory.

The songs on the EP were written during a turbulent time for me, a few things happened simultaneously that had a great impact on my life. I felt like I had been frozen in time and had forgotten who I really was. When I came through on the other side I felt renewed. Somehow restored to my own past glory.

For a short time the slogan “Mornington Crescent Now Open” adorned some London Transport souvenirs including a Northern Line coffee mug that sat by my computer. Thematically I made a connection between a London Underground station and myself.

I had the EP named before I even had the songs finished.

Youtube Video For The Ages
If you haven't already seen the Pacific Ridge Records Youtube channel check it out now. Imagine if "Kitten Playing On Slide" mated with "Old Man Punching Young Guy In The Face" and produced a child. Yeah I know, awesome doesn't begin to describe it.

Song of the Week
Feeling down about the fact that it's only Wednesday and that you have two more excruciatingly long days of work/school? Well I'm here to offer you a little reprieve in the form of a chunk of delightful audio chocolate. This weeks song of the week is performed by Ramona, and is their sixth track off their upcoming album Mornington Crescent Now Open which is scheduled to be released on May 25th. The song is appropriately named "Kids In Tokyo." You'll understand why if you choose to give it a listen at our PV, MS, or Virb.

Opinions and Reviewers Are Like A*******
In this case the a**holes are spot on though. Ramona's album Mornington Crescent Now Open has received numerous reviews from the usually cruel, malicious, soulless individuals known as music reviewers. And unsurprisingly they are overwhelmingly positive. Here's a taste of what they had to say:

"This fast paced rocker is a salute to...rock show audiences." - C.W. Ross
"KILLER BAND ALERT. KILLER BAND ALERT" - Baby Sue
"Ramona is like earwax candy. I love it." - The Biggest Letdown
"Ramona is bubblegum pop-rock for grown-ups." - I Will Battle

Another Song By Ramona
It's that time of the week again. Here's the third song by Ramona, it's a more mellow representation of the rest of their work but it's regarded as the best song on the record by many folks. Including me, and in the end isn't that all that really matters? The song is the fifth track on the album and is titled "Hanging on the Words." You can give the track a listen at any number of our streaming sites, but our PV and MS are probably the most legit locations to check out.

An Interview With Ramona
As the title of this post implies the PRR interview page has finally been updated with our latest artist Ramona. This time around Pac Ridge wasn't the one throwing the edgy and controversial questions around. Instead a gentleman by the name of Noelle Curtis has stepped up and decided to bring the heat. You'll have to excuse Curtis for not busting out the doozies such as "What's your favorite food?" and other similarly impressive questions, but he does what he can and overall Noelle manages to squeak by with a win.

In all seriousness though, Curtis goes in depth with Ramona's front man Dave Fritz, covering several important yet different aspects of Ramona's new record. So enjoy!

Ramona's First Album
Ramona has announced the existence and pending release of their debut album, titled Mornington Crescent Now Open. Crescent is slated to be a six song EP that focuses heavily on Rock influences and the occasional homage to folk. Their first single "A Way Over" is the second track on the album and can be heard wherever Pac Ridge streams music. PV, MS, our media page, etc.. If that doesn't interest you this probably won't either. Ramona and the foursome that combine to make up the rock act are based out of Canada. Meaning we're now working with artists in the UK, Sweden, the US, and Canada. Pac Ridge's tentacles are slowly spreading across the globe...

Ramona's First Single
This post is fairly self-explanatory. The song is titled "A Way Over" and will have an accompanying video in a few short weeks.

Now for a random fact. The artist Ramona ironically and 100% coincidently goes by the same name as the town that Pac Ridge was founded in, and currently resides in.

Another Band Added To The Family
In what can be considered ground breaking and possibly earth shattering news we've decided to add a new artist to the Pac Ridge roster.

If you enjoyed the previous iterations of KDTV, you'll really love this one. There's nudity, cursing, guitar playing, and an all around abundance of debauchery. Mostly just guitar playing though, but either way it's definitely the last of Kyoto Drive's recording videos so enjoy their funny accents, and my determination to sever all friendly ties with foreign nations by making nasty little remarks like that.

Songs Available For Free DL
In another glaringly obvious display of my tremendous generosity I've made the Future Idiots song "Target of Chicanery" available for free download on our media page. If that isn't a proper demonstration of my philanthropic nature, my posting of two additional free Kyoto Drive songs should be.

All We Ever Wanted...
...Was to make Kyoto Drive's album available everywhere, and now it is, so go to iTunes or Amazon or search the interwebs for any other vendors you prefer because odds are it's probably there waiting to blissfully please your ear drums with soothing harmonies and joyous choruses. Also if you befriend/follow me on twitter I will send you free CD's and or merch. Yes, I'm literally bribing you to be my twitter friend.

KD's Studio Footage
Last month I posted a taste of Kyoto Drive's recording studio footage. This time around I'm posting the next chapter of their experience recording This Is All We Ever Wanted.

Future Idiot Pictures
If you have an inkling to see the Pop-Rockers in their natural Swedish surroundings just head on over to our purevolume, myspace, or any other of our numerous time draining, life sucking social networking sites. Also if you're extra curious and would like to see the bands track listing and upcoming album just head on over here. There's a free FI song chillin' there too.

Future Idiots New Song
A day after we announced the signing of the Future Idiots we have the pleasure of unveiling their first single! The song is a synth led Pop/Rock gem titled "Target of Chicanery." It's the eleventh track off the bands upcoming 16 song album titled Love and Murder. The song can be listened to at our purevolume, myspace, virb and or ilike sites.

The Latest Addition to the Pac Ridge Family
You may have noticed some strange artwork in addition to the name of a new band cropping up on our website over the course of the last few days. If you didn't notice, then you're obviously inconsiderate in every way. If you did notice, besides being an incredibly awesome individual, it means that we have a new member of the Pac Ridge family that we're more than proud to announce. Johan Tinebo, Mark Andersson and Alexander Persson combine to make up the power-house of a talent known as the Future Idiots. The artwork that's been posted all around our sicky sites is the design of their upcoming 16 song CD titled Love and Murder which is being released on March 30th. Over the course of the next few weeks we're going to release tons of pictures, videos and music from the album, so keep an eye out for all the sweet media that'll be made available asap.

Sick New Tour Posters Mean More Sick Shows
Kyoto Drive is playing 17 shows over the course of the next two months. So if you have any desire to go to the UK, or if by chance you're already living there, check them out! It's quality music, the tickets are cheap, the new album is out and I heard Mike and Chris are selling their bodies after shows. So make an appearance and tell them Pac Ridge sent you!

Kyoto Drive's Debut Album Finally Available
Kyoto Drive's debut release This Is All We Ever Wanted is finally available. If you have no idea what I'm talking about then odds are you're new to the Pac Ridge universe because we've literally spammed the hell out of this album in an effort to promote it like no other release we've ever had. Rightfully so too. In my opinion This Is All We Ever Wanted is one of the strongest albums Pac Ridge has ever released. And that's saying a lot considering we've worked with bands like All Time Low, Limbeck and Four Year Strong to name a few. If you're new to KD and just want to give their material a listen head on over to their PV and stream their entire album.

February 15, 2010
Full Album Stream
You heard me right. We're posting Kyoto Drive's entire unreleased album on the Pac Ridge and Kyoto Drive purevolume site. That means you can stream and download the This Is All We Ever Wanted to your hearts content. Another semi-interesting fact is that Kyoto Drive is featured on Purevolumes homepage in the picks & promos section, so go check out their sexy mugs and get some free music while you're at it.

Behind The Scenes Footage and Month Long Tour
Kyoto Drive's CD is dropping in a mere two weeks. With it's arrival comes a kickass month-and-a-half long tour that starts today and is listed in its entireity on our events page and at kyotodrive.com. On top of that here's the first video in a series of videos about the behind the scenes studio time and recording of This Is All We Ever Wanted.

The Word On The Street
Are you sick of bands and labels telling you that their material is the greatest achievement since sliced bread? I sure as hell am, and I'm the one doing most of the mindless self-promotion. So don't take my word on the quality of Kyoto Drive's new album. Take the words of these professional reviewers and judge for yourself.

"...Very Catchy"
"It's songs like this that make me think that there is a creative spark left in this world."
"Kyoto Drive is a UK band that has a great sound."

Oh, did I mention that if you pre-order the CD you get a free Kyoto Drive T?

January 25, 2010
Waiting
How appropriate is it that the name of the last song that's being posted off Kyoto Drive's unreleased album titled This Is All We Ever Wanted is called "Waiting?" It's even more appropriate considering you can now pre-order their album right freakin' here. BTW all pre-orders come with a free KD shirt, stickers, and any number of random free nicknacks we decide to throw in. So check out the albums tenth track at our myspace and ilike.

Hold Your Head High
We've posted a total of eight songs off of Kyoto Drive's unreleased album titled This Is All We Ever Wanted. That means we have two tracks left off this 10 song masterpiece, so give the ninth track "Hold Your Head High" a listen on our ilike, myspace, and purevolume. If you care to hear a few of the other tracks head on over to kyotodrive.com. They have three of the previous songs we've posted available. This track however is a bit more spicy and upbeat than the other tracks so jump around like a crazy mofo and get into it the way music was meant to be listened to.

January 18, 2010
KDTV
No it's not your local radio broadcast. It's Kyoto Drive's video blog. Where they announce ground breaking news about revolutionary ideas through intricate filming techniques that are based in the most exotic locations Pac Ridge can afford. Of course that's mixed in with Chris (The Drummer) getting his head licked, but you put those two sides of the spectrum together and you've got KDTV. The video blog is a sick idea if you're hoping to catch a sweet merch deal, want to get the latest news on upcoming shows, or simply want a cheap laugh. This week in particular they announced the release of two new tracks on their site www.kyotodrive.com. And that's on top of the track we're releasing tomorrow. So check out KDTV in all its glory.

January 11, 2010
Fighting Talk
Here's another song from the band with the plan from across the sea.

Track eight is change of pace from the rest of the record in the way that they slow the tempo down in the beginning and build up into a dramatic breakdown at the end. Basically they create an emotional atmosphere to go along with the epic nature of a five minute long track that more than proves that Kyoto Drive is anything but your standard Pop/Rock band. The track is available to stream at our myspace, ilike, and purevolume sites. [Editors note: Most professional post ever.]

January 05, 2010
Make Up Doesn't Cover Everything
In my humble opinion track three has the CD's best breakdown, so if you listen to the song make sure to stick it out until the end. As usual the song is posted at our ilike, purevolume, and myspace sites and is, like always, free. If you don't know what the hell I'm talking about this is the sixth song that's been posted off of the band Kyoto Drive's brand spanking new album that's appropriately titled This Is All We Ever Wanted. Which will be made available Jan. 26th.

January 04, 2010
New Years Resolution = Free CD's
I've been debating with myself for about four days now on what exactly my New Years Resolution should be. Then I thought to myself a resolution shouldn't be a dedication based on selfishness. Quite the contrary, it should be a well thought out plan to help better those around you while improving yourself simultaneously. So what exactly does that mean? It means free music, more postings, and more free streams. Certain releases/stock that has built up over the years is just wasting space so why not give it away, right? Right. I'm making the Pac Ridge store carry free physical copies of music. So if you're feeling like picking up a free copy of one of our CD's head on over to our store and check it out. There will also be a donation link in the store that will be totally optional. Meaning that if you think that my resolution was a nice gesture then return the favor and be nice right back. And if you don't want to than simply don't do it. I figure the music industry is being run into the ground by dolts making far more money than me while doing a lot less work than me. So why not try and change it up a bit.

It's Not About Revenge, Don't Make It Personal
Merry Christmas and happy New Year! We can only hope that this next year brings good health, great memories, and a lot more Pac Ridge music. And in an obviously ironic twist of fate we can already fulfill that third New Years wish. This time around I'm posting the fifth track off of Kyoto Drive's new album which is titled This Is All We Ever Wanted. If you can't guess what the title of the song is it's "It's Not About Revenge, Don't Make It Personal." It's got a rock solid intro that carries on into a blend of group chants and catchy hooks. You can find the song at our Purevolume, iLike, Twitter, and Myspace sites. You can also find the song on January 26th when the album becomes available to order!

December 21, 2009
Transition(s)
No, No, Pac Ridge isn't folding (I know I got all the haters' hopes up) and we're not going to turn into a ska label *shudders*. The "Transition" I'm speaking of is the first track off Kyoto Drive's soon-to-be-released album This Is All We Ever Wanted.

Basically "Transitions" is KD's version of pumping up the crowd. It's kind of like New Found Glorys song "Intro" in the way that it shows a style unlike any other on the album and is a great song to mosh to. So if you're looking for a reason to punch a friend in the head or give him that casual elbow to the sternum check out Kyoto Drive live. But if you're stuck in the states like me just crank the tunes at home and do it anyways.

You can find the song here, here, and here.

December 14, 2009
Notes From Look Out Point
This will be the fourth Kyoto Drive track we've posted in as many weeks. Now remember there's no rhyme or reason to the songs being posted. We're not posting only singles or just the great tracks. We're actually posting them by using a formulaic approach that calculates emotional interaction and brain stimuli. Our method is also known as the eenie meenie miney moe method....truly a scientific approach.

Anyways track seven "Notes From Look Out Point" is a slower more melodic track that still manages to keep that up-tempo KD style....now this is the part of the post where I plug the hell out of the song. The album will be available Jan. 26th and is titled This Is All We Ever Wanted. As usual you can listen to the song at any of these locations; Purevolume, Myspace, or our super secret (not anymore obviously) iLike site.

December 7, 2009
Make This Alright
It's that time of the week again. And if you don't actually know what that time is, it's a weekly event in which we post a song off the upcoming Kyoto Drive album entitled This Is All We Ever Wanted. This weeks song is called *drum roll.....* "Make This Alright." The song can be heard at our ilike, purevolume, and myspace sites.

Another Taste of Awesomeness
After 2,500 miles of travelling and a Wal-Mart oil change later Pac Ridge is back up a running. We've got a new location in sunny California and a boat load of energy. But more importantly since it's been about a week and a half since our last update I'm thinking it's time for the release of a new Kyoto Drive song off of their new yet to be released album titled This Is All We Ever Wanted. Just check out our Purevolume or Myspace and you'll get to hear track four "Are You Taking Me Apart Just To See How My Insides Work" in all its glory.

Interview With A UK Band
Now that my lame attempt at a 90's pop culture reference has failed horribly. It's time to get to business. I have another interview! This time it's with Mike Levell of Kyoto Drive, and it touches up on their January 26th release and other similarly imperative topics like skateboarding and Tandoori Chicken Madras. What can I say, we here at Pac Ridge like to challenge our interviewees with the tough questions. The kind that others are afraid, or too proud to ask...Interview.

Album Art and Black Friday Nut Bustin' Megathon Sale
I figured everyone else is throwing around phrases like "Black Friday Door Buster" and "Super Mega Sale", so why can't we? So this next week we're officially having the Nut Bustin' Megathon Sale. The prices will be so low that you're bound to bust a nut! Seriously though, we're having a big sale for Thanksgiving week (Nov. 21st-27th). It ends after Black Friday, so make sure you at least take the time to look at the price changes. You don't have to buy anything, but dammit I'll be html-ing on Thanksgiving so check out my hard earned soon-to-be carpal tunnel filled turkey-less work.

The sale isn't the only thing this post is about though. You're getting a two-fer! I figured I'd post the album art for the yet to be released (January 26th) Kyoto Drive album. It's sweet stuff. Plus it'll give a peek into the track listing and band members. And, well, it's just sick. Late!

November 17, 2009
New Full Length Album Coming January 26th
As the headline implies there's a brand spanking new album on the way (as if it wasn't readily apparent by the gigantic myspace header and banners everywhere). The album is a ten song full-length by the English Pop/Rock band Kyoto Drive.

In case your curious. Which undoubtedly you are, the album is titled "This Is All We Ever Wanted."

And as if this post wasn't enough to satiate your inner most Pac Ridge/Kyoto Drive desires, I intend to post a song for you to stream to your hearts content. Actually the plan is to release a song every week or so in anticipation of this bad boy. So check back often to hear the latest and greatest KD song. For now head on over to our PV or MS to give the first song ever posted a listen. Oh did I mention it's coming out January 26th? Because it is.

Keychain & Free Music
For anyone who's interested. You can find almost all of our rosters music available for free download at Amiestreet. So download these albums for free; The Cameo In, Promise of Redemption, Showoff, and well..you can search for the other stuff.

On top of that we now have Keychains. Now you'll be able to take your love of Kyoto Drive and Pac Ridge around with you wherever you go. Yay.

Interview and Some Sweet Sweet News
We did a short interview with Kyoto Drive Guitarist Mark Piper. The int. includes some wonderful news that's happening in the near future. You'll have to read it to figure it out though. And I assure you it's not as dull as it sounds either. It's full of interesting tidbits that delve into the psyche of those funny talking friends that live half way around the world....Not really, but it is better than poke in the eye with a sharp stick! Interview.

Vans "Off The Wall" Tour Night
It's come to my attention that people don't have time to read lengthy posts that try to incorprate clever one-liners or witty zingers, so I'll make this brief. Vans Tour with Funeral For A Friend, Kids In Glass Houses, Fight Star and Kyoto Drive. Need I say more?

Too Drunk to Know Better
I'm either too drunk to know better, or I truly am in the holiday spirit. Either way shipping's free for the next week. So check out the PRR store and maybe, just maybe, if you're also too drunk to know better, you'll buy some pointless merch that you'll undoubtedly regret once the hangover subsides.

PRR's kind of like that fugly person you wake up with after a night of binge drinking. It sounded like a good idea after the three jager bombers and the pint of rum and coke. But then you wake up and realize that you would have actually been better off getting cold-clocked in the family jewels. Store! Bam!

New Song
I recently discovered a site by the name of mycontent.com. It's currently in the beta stage, but it's surprisingly easy to use and quite functional. On top of that it features a brand new song by The Ocean As Mistress. It's the only spot where you can find their previously unreleased song Twelve Silver Pennies so head on over there and give it a free stream or download. The rest of our catalogue's over there too. So feel free to stream and download as much free stuff as possible.

October 15, 2009
PRR Loves You
How much do we love you? Enough to add new merch that will absolutely rock your world. Actually that merch will come in a couple weeks. In the mean time we've put up a button collection that'll rock your world. It's a truly riveting addition to anyone's collection...

Sucks To Be You
If you didn't download Kyoto Drive's EP Spotlights and Stars which was free for the last two weeks...well, then it sucks to be you. All is not lost though, you can still download over a dozen songs for free on our media page. So check out what you've been missing and live a little. Because you truly haven't lived if you haven't heard the beautiful yet brooding guitar work of Forgotten Alibi or the pained yet joyous filled vocals of Promise of Redemption's Shane Henderson. Am I exaggerating? Not on your life.

New Events & A Friendly Reminder
Kyoto Drive is heading out for their first tour as a member of the Pac Ridge roster. When is this monumental occasion kicking off? This December. So bundle up, liquor up, and party it up at each and every performance.

Also don't forget you can get their four song EP "Spotlights and Stars" for free by downloading the album at our store. There's no gimmicks or promotional nonsense here. It's simply free, and it's going to stop being free on the 13th of October, so get it while it lasts.

September 29, 2009
Free Album Download
If you think free album streams are awesome. Prepare to be blown away because we've one-upped ourselves by going a step further than streaming. We've now made Kyoto Drive's entire EP available for free download. Just head on over to our store and download the album. Did I mention it's free?

September 28, 2009
Music Video-ish-ness
In an attempt to skirt the maximum song limits of myspace (10) and Purevolume (4) I've decided to upload video collages of nearly all of our music at the aforementioned places as well as @ youtube.com, buzznet.com, ilike.com, & virb.com. Most of the collages are filled with the respective artists promo and party pics, but some are just uploaded for the sake of getting the music out there. Hope you enjoy.

September 25, 2009
How Much Is Love Worth?
Apparently less than $3.00. Because that's the price of nearly all our CD's.

And yes, our back catalogue = <3

September 22, 2009
Free Album Stream
How does free music sound? Better yet, how does brand new free music sound? Hell, how does amazingly awesome brand new music sound? To good to be true? More than likely...But we do have the next best thing. A stream of Kyoto Drive's entire EP Spotlights and Stars on our Purevolume and Myspace. So feel free to check it out and basically use and abuse my generosity.

Interview With KD
We did an interview with Kyoto Drive prior to our relationship with our foreign friends. Little did we know, we'd be BFF's in only a few weeks time.

The int. is short, sweet, and hardly serious. So if you're interested check it out -->KD Int<--.

Live Shows
It's been a rather lengthy amount of time since we've been able to announce upcoming live shows. And by the not-so-clever title of this post, you've probably figured out that all that's about to change. Well, you're right. Head on over to our events page and you'll see a handful of shows that Kyoto Drive will be performing in the coming months. It'll be updated every week to reflect any additional shows. And let me assure you, there will be additional shows :)

Kyoto Drive
Its been a long time in coming, but Pac Ridge has finally added another band to the PRR family.

The band in question is a four member Pop-Rock group out of the UK called Kyoto Drive . Their myspace and our MS and PV have a couple of songs to listen to, so if you're feeling the urge download their songs and leave a little love for the band.

Thanks For Feeding My Ego
As I've mentioned numerous times before, we're not above bragging here at the PRR compound.

That being said here's a factual yet slightly snarky PRR factlet;

Our Blink 182 tribute album has racked up over 300,000+ Purevolume plays. On top of that, Four Year Strong's video collage (made by moi) of Blink's song Dumpweed has been viewed a mind-boggling 73,000 times (I said it was a fact, not that I don't exaggerate the magnitude of it).

So in honor of hitting the 300k mark I wanted to thank everybody for listening to the variety of talented bands we featured on this comp as well as supporting indie music in general. I also want to thank Blink for being absolutely amazing and an inspiration in my life as well as my career.

Maycomb
There's nothing better than an interview with an Indie band from the UK. Well, there's one thing better, two interviews with two Indie bands from the UK. This particular session is with a band called Maycomb, who just so happen to be co-touring with our previous interviewee Kyoto Drive. Like always you can check out all our INTs by clicking the giant CD on our homepage or by being lazy and clicking this link. Interview.

New Interview
Everybody has pet peeves, mine just happen to be more absurd than most peoples. One of these painful, sigh inducing annoyances happen to be when people refer to anything overseas/internationally as "across the pond." Let's make this clear, it's not a pond. The Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria did not cross a frickin' pond, they crossed the 4,000 mile stretch of ocean known as the Atlantic. Sure it’s a globalized world now, but for Pete’s sake be original! It's a tired saying that needs to be retired (deep breath). Now, I present an interview with Kyoto Drive. A melodically driven pop-punkish band from across the pond! Interview.

Lack of Updates
The lack of updates doesn't mean there's a lack of work going on. Well, it does to some degree, but I personally would equate it to the calm before the storm. Corny meteorological analogies aside though, the Pac Ridge myspace has been updated a tad. And by a tad I mean I uploaded six additional songs for a grand total of 10 songs. They're from a variety of albums so it keeps things interesting.

The Cameo In Gets Nominated For A JPF
Yup, it's just like it sounds. The Cameo In's song Everything has been nominated for a JPF award for the best college rock song. I'll get off my ass and post the song sometime soon, but in the mean time if you want to check out the other nominees/albums/awards head on over to the JPF website (www.jpfolks.com/). If you really love Pac Ridge, or The Cameo In, or both (hopefully) than drop the site an email and tell them The Cameo In kick ass.

Youtube Vid. 50K+
Four Year Strong's video collage/Blink 182 cover has over 50 thousand views in a little under six months. It's not viral by any means, but dammit that's cool. And we're not ashamed of riding the coat tails of other successful bands. Speaking of videos though, you can listen to almost every Pac Ridge song on my personal Youtube channel. All of the songs are in less than spectacular quality and they lack any creativity what-so-ever (you'll see what I mean) but free music is free music :)

Blink Tribute On iTunes (Again)
Our Blink tribute album has finally reappeared on iTunes. It only took a year of B.S. and new cover art to finally get it approved. It's there though, and that's all that matters. So if you have a hankerin' for some old school Pop-Punk and some awesome bands that were in their infancy at the time this was recorded, check out the link. It'll direct you straight to the iTunes page that we worked so hard to secure.

All Time Low
If you have 2 1/2 minutes to kill, go check out the collage of loveliness that is All Time Low, and give their cover of Blink 182's song Time To Break Up a listen. And if you don't have 2 1/2 minutes to spare. Then why the F*** are you at our homepage.

We're Finally Settled In
We've finally got everything up-and-running, and because of my overwhelming joy to finally be finished with all that non-sense. I've decided to put up another song for DL. So enjoy the always soothing, always relaxing, spot-on sexy vocals of Shane Henderson.

The Move Is Over
Pac Ridge has finally found a new home after nearly 3,000 miles of driving. We're now located in the sprawling metropolis known as Waubun Minnesota which is currently home to a whopping 403 people. The move went off without a hitch for the most part. The only frustrating part is our internet tanked for about a week (apparently B.F.E. Minnesota is not the place to go for high speed internet). Luckily it's back up with promises of faster connectivity. So that means more pointless updates from me!

Happy Memorial Day
My dad's a Vietnam vet. and my Grandparents were WW2 vets so props to all those who served in the military and to all those who still serve! And to all you hippy bastards out there. Get over yourself. It's not about supporting war, it's about honoring the people who die/serve in it! Now go grill some burgs and enjoy life :)

iTunes Blocks Out The Sun
Well, recently we've ran into a rather large problem, iTunes has gotten very particular about their album art standards. Apparently silhouettes of Blink 182 and Tom Petty = us being the devil. So we've got different artwork up for those albums. They're under the moniker "limited edition" but that's because we couldn't use the same name because we might complicate the lives of the gatekeepers over at iTunes. And their partly called that because we only manufactured five copies of each for digital retail (limited edition might be an understatement). That's why we've got like eight kazillion versions of our albums. Yay for complicated messes!...Sheesh you'd think this was livejournal the way I'm whining.

Vintage PRR
Without much fanfare The Good Year (R.I.P) recorded one of my all time favorite covers. It's best to listen to the song with the volume cranked up, but don't take my word for it, judge it for yourself.

Four Semi-Interesting Facts
X-Men: Wolverine's Origins was corny but bad ass (big fan of X-Men), we'll be making a move across the country in June, I've contracted the flu which has led to jokes about fornicating with pigs, and most importantly PoR is having a "fuck cancer" benefit show with my musical idol Vinny Caruana (I Am The Avalanche/Movielife). So check out their MS for more details.

Free Song of the Week
I totally made that up. There is no free song of the week, but there is a "I have nothing else exciting to post, so I guess I'll throw out a free song intermittently." But that headline isn't quite as exciting...or maybe it is? I digress...the song is Lights! Camera! Action! by The Cameo In.

Another Free Song
It was an absolutely perfect day at the Pac Ridge compound; 70 degrees, sun shining, a slight breeze, and NBA playoffs. In honor of such a beautiful day I'm putting up a free song. It's an oldie, but a goodie.

Sweet Deals
I've decided to up the ante and offer some sweet merch deals. Shirt/CD, Poster/CD , and hat/CD combos for less than ten bucks. It's all in an effort to reduce stock because Pac Ridge is moving again! check out the PRR store to witness my awesomeness first hand.

A "Grip" of Pics
Yup, just like it sounds, we uploaded a bunch of pics to our MS, PV, and all the rest of our social networking sites. The majority of the pics are from alterEgo's Japan & China tours, so there's a ton of culture and nifty live pics to check out.

Two Shout Outs
I feel I need to give a shout out to a couple of people who have helped me out over the past few days. First is Glenn Elert (http://hypertextbook.com, http://midwoodscience.org) who provided us with the Forgotten Alibi cover art (tree silhouette) all those years ago and never got the proper credit for it. Second is a customer of ours named Mike Antone. He brought to my attention the fact that our shipping and handling prices had inexplicably jumped 30%, which we didn't do. We're no strangers to price gouging, but we're not pure evil.

In my highly unscientific logic this proves that smart people (Glenn) and Canadians (Mike) rule.

Random Free Song
Here's another attempt at my undying effort to sucker you into being fans of all things Pac Ridge. It's a free Promise of Redemption song!

Win Free Schwag
Like to blog? Well if you do, give us a shout out and we'll send you free sh**. Seems too simple doesn't it? That's because it is. If you design a banner or make a witty post on your website/myspace/blog you'll get stuff like shirts, or hats, or CD‘s, etc. Mention our name in passing without even so much as a joke to follow it up and you'll find yourself the proud owner of a button, or something equally as lame. Just email contact@pacificridgerecords.com with the link that contains the shout out with your address included and you‘ll be rewarded for your efforts. This opportunity closes on the first of May.

Snocap
Yes, we have a Snocap account. No, it's not organized in any convenient manner. Yes, everybody has one. No, we're not special. And yes, I'm addicted to blogging about PRR news. BTW it's located on our MS account.

Rare Music
Check out rarepunkmusic.com for some truly sick music. That's no exaggeration either. They have rare and out of print CD's and vinyl of bands like Alkaline Trio, Blink 182, Mock Orange, Face To Face, and pages more. And what's better than a site that sells amazing music? A site that sells amazing music and has an owner who's equally as awesome. I've been talking to the operator of the site, Aaron, and he's the friendliest mofo (the bad ass kind) you'll come across. And music needs more friendly faces! Trust me.

Some Amusing Hate Mail
Last night I was sifting through some paperwork looking for a very specific form that I needed for some very boring business purposes. It's this boring endeavor that led me to a few emails that are real gems. If you're interested in threats and humorous banter check it out here.

Of course for every hate message we receive, we get two of these. And those messages and the people behind them are what make the music industry a worthwhile career path. More over they make a person feel good about what their doing. I'm not saying shower us with praise or that we dislike criticism. We love it...when it's constructive. Just don't be such a dick! Because it makes us want to do this. Plus being nice earns you free sh*t most of the time.

Imeem
No it's not a topical cream. It's another site where you can find and listen to free Pac Ridge music, videos, and pics. It's jam-packed full of songs by Promise of Redemption, Showoff, Cameo, Four Year Strong, Limbeck, and other greats. Overall it's a nifty little site, so check it out here.

Crazy Adventures In Canada + Delicious Burgs' = Sweet Hollow Drive
We have another indie band for the masses to check out. The man in charge, or at least the man in charge of dealing with me, was an incredibly nice guy named Danny who drums for the band Sweet Hollow Drive. Their a talented band with a sick sound so check out a couple of their songs, and if you feel like checking out the grueling, mind boggling, and always provocative questions in our usual interview click here.

Check Out The Pac Ridge Guard Squirrel
We added around 100 photos to our Virb, Buzznet, iLike, and Myspace. It took entirely too long and devoured my very soul, but I figured some people may enjoy them (probably not). They don't all pertain to music, but a good number of them do. The non-music ones are mostly about the journey of Pac Ridge's move halfway across the country. They show our old home (San Diego, CA) and our new home (Manhattan, KS) and our adventures in between. Lastly some of the pics are just downright cute so I included them (i.e. picture of me and my niece).

Myspace Must Be Feeling Generous
Good ol' MS is allowing artists to upload five additional songs per profile. So head on over to our MS to listen to five additional songs. Some of them new, some of them old, all of them freakin' sweet.

Music, Videos, News, and a Sexy Pic of Me
You can find free music, sweet photos, new music, videos, and other Pac Ridge exclusives at some of the following sites; Virb, Buzznet, iLike, and LastFM. Here's a taste of the awesomeness that can be discovered...Bam! (BTW that's Four Year Strong, me, and my brother from another mother Matt).

Featured Indie Band: Self Made Soul
We've slowly begun to roll out a feature that focuses on indie bands that we believe don't get the press that they deserve. There's no specific rhyme or reason for picking the bands we do. We just choose bands that we enjoy listening to and believe have the talent to do great things. Simple as that. This time around we chose a post-hardcore band that goes by the name Self Made Soul. You can check out their CD and interview right here (or just click the big CD-R on our main page). Enjoy!

American Cancer Society Benefit Show
Promise of Redemption (Shane) will be playing a show March 27th at the University of Pennsylvania. The show is a benefit for the American Cancer Society, so if you can get out and support the cause you would be doing a great service. Plus PoR rules. So it's a win win situation.

Taylor Swift, Shai Hulud, and Delicious Chicken Wings
What do Taylor Swift, Shai Hulud, and delicious chicken wings all have in common? They're all in our interview with The Lows, so check it out. Their full length CD Departure can also be found on our site if you're ever-so-interested. The freakin' sweet Int. can be found right here, or you can just click the cd on our main page (www.pacificridgerecords.com) that way you can read about all the Indie bands we support and you can catch up on the other interviews we've done.

The California Witch Creek Fire
Pacific Ridge Records is located in Ramona California. More specifically where the heart of the Witch Creek Fire was/is located. This video I shot is just a glance at the devastation Southern California is going through. Remember this is just what I've filmed while evacuating and only when I've had the chance too. There are numerous other locations that I haven't filmed that are much worse. My heart goes out to everyone who has lost their homes, their pets, and their life long possessions. People around the country may not know much about these fires, but the news has already confirmed that more people have been evacuated during these fires then the entire Katrina catastrophe. This isn't to take anything away from the tragedy that occurred in the Katrina incident. I only mention this to give people a scope of the disaster we're facing down here.
While my home and Pac Ridge may still be in danger I plan on contributing as much as I can to help those who have tragically lost their homes.
